Coaching buddy of mine spent a good bit of time with Coach Steele a few days ago. This guy usually doesn't get excited about much. But he is pretty excited about our defensive plans. Said that Coach Steele could thoroughly and with great detail answer questions about the fundamentals of every defensive position. The plan this spring is to approach the players like they have never heard of football before. Every player is going to be schooled on the assignments of every other position as well as the base offense assignments. The most exciting part to me is that the goal is to force offenses to adjust to our D and get out of their plan instead of us adjusting to them. We may look rough around the edges early. But I don't think that will last long at all.
Can't wait for spring ball.

This will be a difference maker this season. As a coach which situation would you rather have the opposing qb under:

A. Playing "back" and waiting on him to make a mistake or

B. Putting pressure on him and forcing him to beat you when he's under pressure?

I can tell you which one I prefer. :biggrin2:

Excellent . You have to know your stuff to be on a Saban staff . Love it .

I think that's a pretty good foundation for defense being put in by this staff. Man how many days until spring ball starts?
