Either you rank the team where they deserve to be, or you have no right ranking them in the first place.
I would have easily ranked TCU third last year. They only lost their championship game, which was an extra game that Ohio St. did not have to play. OSU also got beaten down on their home field by Michigan; whereas, TCU lost a very close game. I would have debated about the number four spot between OSU and Bama, and I really don't think either one deserved to be there last year, but they had to pick one of them because all of the other teams dropped like flies. It is clear that people have different opinions about last year, and that is just fine.

This phrase has become a pet peeve of mine. I'm not directing this at you and it's also technically correct, but it's almost like it's designed to make the Texas loss sound worse than it was. Sure, 10 points means "double digits," but just barely. So is 99.
I think the point is that it was a two score game. Would it be better if people said two score game? Either way, they were very much in control at the end of the game.

Personally, I would prefer just "lost by 10 points." It's factual and specific. "Double digits" just sounds like it's intended to make the loss sound worse than it was.

Whew...how does it all go back to your position on Jalen Hurts??? I just stopped reading right there, honestly.
I've always had the position that it's very problematic to replace coordinators. Some people seem to think you can change coordinators constantly with no adverse results. It causes a lot of issues. I brought that up over and over in the Hurts discussion and here as well since Alabama was breaking in not one, but two new coordinators.

Furthermore, this is a problem Saban consistently has to deal with because he gets poached constantly. I mean the one loss came to a coordinator that got poached, so the problem isn't bad hires really, it's his good hires keep getting hired away.

I guess you won't read this, but the point stands. It's incredibly difficult to replace coordinators and integrate the new ones seamlessly. That's why for instance the Alabama offense took some time to get going. It doesn't make the Alabama team a bad team, it just means they had some things that take time to overcome.

Exactly! This committee has told everyone that having a tough schedule is pointless. Just play and dominate inferior teams and you are in like Flinn. Other teams with the exact same record and tougher schedules need not apply.
Given the fact that we play Oklahoma, Texas, and Georgia - among our other usual SEC foes - next year, I agree.

THAT is the full intention of the statement. I've said it prior, and I'll say it again. This committee has postured itself with their preferred games and that's what they'll get reasoning be damned!

Probably at 35k or in an airport somewhere
Yes, last night Rece asked him about Oregon's schedule being ranked below all other 1 loss teams and the shill said roughly "yes but they dominated their opponents". That is the only argument they have that favors Oregon and they want them in so that is what they are using.
The CFP criteria include not "incenting [sic ] margin of victory." Granted, this is with respect to common opponents, but that makes it nonsensical to weigh margin of victory against differing opponents (who, by definition, are of different quality). So if this is what they are saying, they are actually going against an explicit selection criterion...

Inserting criteria based on margin of victory over common opponents is a non-sensical. Oregon beat Texas Tech by 7 in September......Texas beat Texas Tech by 50 in November. You start doing that you might as well start doing hypotheticals like, how bad does November Bama beat September Bama. How bad does November Georgia beat September Washington.....you could go on and on.

Alabama has no chance to win this game.
Alabama isn't man enough to beat Georgia.
Georgia is the better team.
Kirby is the better coach.
Beck is the better QB.
Georgia will boat race Alabama.

Just putting it all together. Sure I missed something.

As we speak, the Itty Bitty Pity Committee is counting on and hoping for a Georgia win on Saturday. That's because they dread the decision they'll have to make if we beat them. To be perfectly honest, I can't really say that I blame them for feeling the stress.

But at the same time, I have zero sympathy because if they'd done the right thing all along, it would be a no-brainer with no worries about how they'll make the call.
