I believe ESPN has the rights to the USC - LSU game so I think we're the next best game and we'll be on CBS.

Here's the SEC schedule that Saturday and my guesses:

Kentucky at Arkansas - Comedy Central 8am (seriously I have no clue where this would go or who would watch it)
Auburn at Ole Miss - SEC Network 11:21
Florida at Vandy - FSN Noon
Bama at Mizzou - 2:30 CBS
Texas A&M at La Tech - ESPNU 6pm
South Carolina at LSU - ESPN 6pm
Tenn at Miss State - ESPN 2 8:15

If UT beats UGA this weekend, the UT/MSU game would probably be the CBS game. You would be looking at a one-loss team facing an undefeated team (unless MSU somehow loses to Kentucky next week).

Mizzou plays UCF this week and Vandy next. Might end up being a tossup between the two games.

I think ESPN has the rights to the LSU - USC game. I read that on a LSU site.

But I agree with you that CBS would not let that one go if they have the rights.

CBS has the first pick of SEC games. So in order for ESPN to have it, CBS would have to pass on it. Seems strange to me that CBS would do that.

I thought they made a deal because of last year with the lsu/Bama game. CBS was allowed to make that a prime time game, and espn got some rights to games. So maybe that is why they have the lsu/USC game.

Maybe, I hadn't heard about that. I know CBS only gets 1 primetime game each year and they used it for the Bama-UF game. I do remember hearing about some kind of exception when they made the Bama-LSU game primetime as well. Maybe ESPN got first pick for a game this year because of that, makes sense.

'Pick of the Litter'

In regards to the deal ESPN and CBS struck:

CBS had to give up first pick for at least one game (possibly two) this season due to getting Alabama/LSU in prime time last year. Last weekend was a weekend where ESPN had first pick (Which is why they went with LSU/Auburn and CBS got stuck with South Carolina/Missouri). ESPN might have another weekend left on the agreement.

ESPN has the first pick.

If USCe beats UGA on 10/6 and LSU beats UF that same date CBS would desperately want to show two unbeatens, but I am sure LSU would prefer the 6PM kickoff, night time in Red Stick.
If both lose then it probably makes no difference. Also unless you are an Alabama fan that matchup does not have the interest that the LSU vs USCe game would have.
