Nearly every receiver a CB matches up on in the NFL will be as good or more likely better than the LSU receivers. Diggs has not shown the consistent ability to play the ball when in man coverage. Amazing catch or mundane catch. It is still a catch and they’re eying to pay you millions to not allow the catch.

I’m not bashing the guys. It is just the facts. The two who are most likely to not play at this juncture are the two who I think are in the most precarious draft position and that is considering that one of our guys has a hip injury recovery too.

You can say that about every db in college football. What db has shut our receivers down? In my memory I can only think of one performance where I thought the db just showed out on the college level and that was Patrick Peterson against Julio. Other than that some of that can be laid at the feet of the QB. Lets revisit this in 3 years. I am willing to bet he will be great by then.

I think Diggs is not in his best position either. He’s probably a free safety in the NFL. He’s got a good knack for playing the ball when he’s not locked on a WR. Struck me as a bit stiff at changing directions with WRs.

His speed will be electric and I think some franchises will see what I see.
He’ll have to start loving to tackle a LOT more than he does right now especially if he changes positions which I totally agree with btw.

Great to hear about DS! I think he could sneak into the first round this year but next year might be a better option for him. The modern NFL is perfect for his skill set because of his tremendous hands and elite blocking. I love the way he plays and would love to see him for another year. He and Waddle could tear it up!

Don’t know how I feel about that. My selfish Bama fan side is ecstatic. My realistic side thinks he is a little injury prone and should take the money. He may have the best hands in the CFB. Fights for every reception, high points the ball well. All that adds up to success in the NFL were most every catch is contested. Maybe the whole thing with Tua getting hurt before he was draft eligible has me a little gun shy about kids staying.

After reading this let's hope everyone plays. "The Michigan Wolverines' football passing attack finally found its rhythm in November, averaging 351.6 yards through the air per game over the team's final three outings."

Important context but everything has to be viewed through our own context of this being the worst defense since Saban got it rolling here.

Folks said same thing about Levi Wallace....marlon Humphrey …. Trevor Diggs will be fine in NFL.
I'm not saying he won't be fine, but I don't remember anyone saying the same things about Levi Wallace and Marlon Humphrey. Both of those guys were the closest thing we've had to shutdown corners since Dre Kirkpatrick, and both are doing excellent jobs in the NFL. Let's hope Diggs enjoys a similar career trajectory.

Wallace was perhaps one of the most surprising players of the Saban era. I kept on expecting there to be a game where he got torched by a high-end WR and his mentality never being the same. He gave up some catches but he also had a knack for making a play that balanced it all out. Like in the Sugar Bowl in 2017. He got burnt a couple of times by Clemson's WRs but he also made the deflection on a slant pass that became the game sealing pick six.

Sims actually being able to quarterback a team to an SEC title and Wallace going from walk-on to All-SEC are among the best individual growth stories.

Yep. Leading up to the Iron Bowl all that was talked about was how awful Bo Nix was etc. And like clockwork, due to how porous our defense was to discipline the guy didn't have a great game statistically. But made clutch play after clutch play on 3rd down and in the redzone to beat us. Shea Patterson is ten times the quarterback Bo Nix is so I'm not expecting us to shut him down by any means.

But Bo Nix is 10 times the athlete than shae Patterson. And I would say Shae Patterson might not be the quarterback that Bo Nix is. Seriously, he has regressed big time since he went North for Harbaugh.

It doesn't matter the difference in the two quarterbacks. If the defense continues to have the level of fundamental breakdowns they've had all year Patterson will give us fits. Granted, if they don't and by the bowl game we've corrected a lot of that then I'd feel more confident and say that we'll eat Patterson up. Let's hope with the extra time off, extra reps, extra coaching and extra time to heal up. We will get a glimpse of the new and improved 2020 defense.

My point was putting Shae Patterson out there isn't this magical trump card in Michigan's pocket. Yeah I worry about our defense, but they should worry about our offense as well. We win if we are focused going away.

Bo Nix ain’t special either but we seemingly conceded every critical play possible v. him. You have to be Arkansas quality to not be a threat to our defense.

AGAIN...We gave up 25 more yards than UGA (everyone's #1 Defense) gave up to the boogs...Our D wasn't as bad as YOU keep telling everyone that it was...Was it Bama quality this year, not quite (we're spoiled), but jeez it wasn't Big 12 either...man...
