We've swung and missed on our DL and OL for quite some time now, especially DL. Either that or we've done a horrible job at developing.
Development has been fine. This years dline is a testament to player development. It's much much harder to recruit a dline like we did pre NIL because getting a top dline player costs about the same a qb and you have to pay twice as many of them and play 6 to 8 of them consistently.

Oline is a bit more complicated.

I watched a few Bama games from 2015-2017 and the difference in our DL's between then and the past several years is vast. It's not even close. We had some DAWGS on our Dline.

Was going to happen now or in the spring. I assume we will look for a backup in the portal now or in the spring window. Would like to have at least 4 qbs on the roster next year.

Best of luck to him.
Why would a QB transfer in as a back up, and not get to play? Except a little in mop up. Mack will likely be back up #1, at least for a while. I don't think we bring in another QB. If it gets that bad, there's walk-on Cade Carruth. They'll likely want that scholly for another position.

There will be some QBs that are open that. It just won't be a big name. Not everyone in the people is starter material.

not taking away their B2B NC, but despite having a big advantage at DL as of late compared to Bama's, UGA is 1-9 vs Alabama in the last 10 meetings.
Though it took longer for Bama to get there, UGA hasn't been as dominant since their two NC seasons and now with the portal and NIL, I don't see them or anyone separating themselves as Bama was or UGA for those two seasons wrt dominance.

Happens every cycle. Mack did it in fact. And I'm really not sure if he will be the number 2 qb after the spring.

Auburn for instance plans on getting two qbs and bringing in a freshmen qb. Also they lose 3 qbs to portal and graduation.

We almost did the same in 2018 with garner minshew...but leach jumped in and offered a starting role. Minshew was on campus at Alabama when leach called him and grabbed him last minute. Minshew was planning to backup Tua/hurts in case some transfered out, then transition into a grad assistant/staff role afterwards with saban.

That was our plan in case hurts decided to leave that year after the spring qb competition. Hurts decided to hang out as a backup and get his degree.

It's won't be a name that excits anyone but we will find a 4th guy either this portal or the spring portal. Also if you're gonna be qb 3 or 4 somewhere, Alabama is a pretty good place to do it.

Bamas D line hasn't been dominant since Ashawn Robinson days or Johnathan Allen days.
There was a period where Saban took what players he wanted and the rest of college football lived off the scraps. We won't see that type of thing again anywhere thanks to NIL. So yea. I'm not happy with our DL performance, but lines like that and the one Clemson beat us with are not going to happen again. Not unless some team just drops enough cash to make it happen

True, but in several of those seasons we could have swapped defensive lines with them and would have been more dominant throughout the season than we were. Having the most talented players or unit or even team doesn’t always equal victories.

B2B and could very well be 3 out of last 4. Dawgs have pretty easy road to the championship game. Bye in first round. and then likely Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl which should be a test but UGA has better players overall. Then they get Boise or P. State. Neither one should pose a more difficult test than Notre Dame. Then it's 60 minutes against whatever team from the other side of the bracket. If I was UGA fan, I would like my chances. Of course I hope they lose the BYE week.
