The biggest farce in the playoff era. That's what they said about TCU.

This was one of my biggest gripes about moving to 12. The sec champ is gonna have to play a team it’s already beaten most years and that is just dumb. Hell the only reason uga got two was bc they got another shot at us beat up with injuries.so georgia and texas may play 3 times this season![]()
If Penn st beats Oregon I’ll eat my hat.Going to be interesting how the seeding changes after the Championship games. Right now Penn State gets to play Arizona State and Boise. If they win the Championship they would be playing 1 less game that game could be vs a much better team.
Right now Oregon being set to play winner of Ohio State and Tennessee seems like a punishment for being the 1 seed.
I’d rather dieImagine an Arizona State vs Indiana national title game.
Drew aller is not good. At all. Would love to play psuAgreed. Also ND also has a mobile QB while Penn State doesn't really.
Alabama matches up well with any team without a mobile QB.Drew aller is not good. At all. Would love to play psu
The snow would be a factor though.Alabama matches up well with any team without a mobile QB.
I doubt it. No college teams are used to playing on the snow anymore. And unless it is brutally cold, the temps don't matter to the players. Fans get cold. Players stay warm by playing. The snow would be a factor though.
I agree. I think part of it is that they still can't stop looking at the loss column. If they are ranking a 0 loss vs a 2 loss or a 1 loss vs a 3 loss, it is easy and simple for them to go with the better record. But as we have seen, once it gets to within 1, say a 1 loss vs 2 loss or a 2 loss vs 3 loss, now they take a step back and start looking at all the other metrics and "typically" make better decisions.Coming from someone that likes computer rankings and AI, I still think there should be a human element to the rankings. But I do think it should be more data driven, it's clear that some people can't wrap their heads around the fact that there are two super conference, one (weak) power conference, and the rest are group of what ever. They are still trying to treat wins and losses as being somewhat equitable. They're not.
Let's compare some computer composite rankings to the committee:
Committee Computer
Boise State: 10 31
Alabama: 11 5
Arizona St.: 15 25
The gaps shouldn't be that substantial and it's interesting that they are really close in some cases, just lose all logic in other cases. Humans seem to have trouble understanding SoS, it's so simple that it's hard for me to understand why but even seemingly smart people get really derpy when it comes to SoS.
I remember watching it at my in-laws in Huntsville. IIRC it was in the 70s that day in Alabama so it was strange to see it snowing in El Paso.As I said.....it'll be something I haven't seen. My parents probably had that game on and my eyes probably saw this on our TV, but I have no memory of it.
I don’t feel that way. I think if Clemson beats SMU, we’re out unless it’s a 20+ point win. I don’t think the committee is going to punish a team that loses a conference championship game that much.I think Bama is in no matter who wins the ACC title game.
They'll take the best 2 out of 3.so georgia and texas may play 3 times this season![]()
The idea is correct...the execution is horrific...we wanted the best 12 NOT just a pick 12! The 5th team in a 4 team playoff, like UGA last year, could have a beef previously...this year you WANT to be the 5th seed as its the easiest route to the semi finals..thats how bad they've messed this up. Only the CFP committee could do this poorlyRemember how the 12-team playoff was going to solve everything. I see no difference except it's the 13th and 14th seeded teams crying.
There's been a whole lot more chaos with this 12 team playoff.Remember how the 12-team playoff was going to solve everything. I see no difference except it's the 13th and 14th seeded teams crying.
And a whole lot more teams with something to play for all the way up to the last game. There's been a whole lot more chaos with this 12 team playoff.
Yeah, Milroe in the cold concerns me, even more so if it's snowing. The snow would be a factor though.
who could really cry though? certainly not us, no team can really complain if you lose 2-3 games, or don't win your conference, at least this solves the issue of truly deserving teams being left out, like Georgia last year or Auburn way back whenRemember how the 12-team playoff was going to solve everything. I see no difference except it's the 13th and 14th seeded teams crying.
