Bama Uniform Discussion/Rumor/Reality

I really like the "new"-er elephant. What I really hate is the lettering and the, what I call hunched back. The elephant in the circle that I have as my avatar is pretty cool, and something I'd like to see on the new Georgia tags whenever they come out in the next half century. :cool2:

Is this the thread where we can discuss moving Jimmy Johns to LB? For those of you who don't know he came to Alabama as a QB and moved to RB but some have felt he would be able to contribute more at LB, thoughts.:biggrin2::biggrin2:

My thoughts are that linebackers should distinguish themselves by wearing orange Bama hats.

I liked the houndstooth trim, but not for every game. I would like to see it maybe once a year or so. Same for the white helmets. They would be a neat change every once in a while. My concern is that when we wore those last time, it didn't work so well. I think it was 1984 when we suffered our first losing season since before Coach Bryant got there. I'm just superstitious. Also UT's unis are hideous. They've always been ugly, but when they started putting the black trim around the numbers it looks even tackier. Black should not be on their uniform at all. It reminds me of when you see black Dodgers caps or green Red Sox hats.

If we changed our uniforms entirely, then we'd be unoriginal. Let's keep it traditional: red helmet with white NUMBERS printed on them; crimson jersey with white (vice versa for away games) numbers and absolutely NOTHING on the shoulders. And the traditional white pants with crimson stripes down the side.

If we changed any of that up, we wouldn't be Alabama. Plain and simple.

The numbers are vinyl stick on. There was a picture of one of our players hitting an opponent so hard it knocked a number off his helmet.

I do agree to bring back the white helmets and on the the subject of shoes, maybe we should go with the Antoine Pettway all red shoe idea.

White helmets would be nice, once or twice per year. I wish we could go back to Russell, haven't been a huge fan of our uni's since we went to Nike.

Kinda like the houndstooth helmet idea but the jerseys and pants would have to be black with white striping and numbers to match the houndstooth colors. Crimson do rags under the helmets.

While we're at it, what would make the team look tougher than bringing back the leather helmets? The broken nose and no front teeth look would be intimidating.

OK,
With the recruiting season over it is time to start the UNI discussion, including all rumors that might or might not be true. First- let me say that I think Bama should stay with the traditional uniforms that are the trademark of this program, but I would like to see some tweaks.
HELMETS - Are good to go - and no we don't want to see Mettalic paint - Oklahoma look terrible with those helmets - but would like to see the WHITE helmets put back into rotation.
JERSEY - with the sewn numbers returning this year - I don't think any change is neccessary - accept maybe the houndstooth trim on the neck and sewn on NAME plates (currently they are screen printed which is tacky).
PANTS - I would like to see BAMA go to the (NON-SPANDEX) pants which seem to be back in style with schools like LSU,OHIO ST, OKLA. When Bama wore the commerative UNI's in 06' - they had these style pants. Also would like to see the pants with loopless belt sleeve - therefore it is one uniform look. Continue to use the white belt with a Script "A" belt cover. Then have the script "A" opposite the NIKE logo on the pants.
SHOES - Got to continue with the black - only good decision Bill Curry ever made - and maybe black short socks.

OTHER POINTS: Now there is a rumor about BAMA being couted by Adidas this year- Adidas has already secured the Michigan contract, what do you guys think - and has anybody heard anything about this.

FINALLY: I've emailed Mal Moore on this subject - hopefully he takes it ointo consideration.
