OK,
With the recruiting season over it is time to start the UNI discussion, including all rumors that might or might not be true. First- let me say that I think Bama should stay with the traditional uniforms that are the trademark of this program, but I would like to see some tweaks.
HELMETS - Are good to go - and no we don't want to see Mettalic paint - Oklahoma look terrible with those helmets - but would like to see the WHITE helmets put back into rotation.
JERSEY - with the sewn numbers returning this year - I don't think any change is neccessary - accept maybe the houndstooth trim on the neck and sewn on NAME plates (currently they are screen printed which is tacky).
PANTS - I would like to see BAMA go to the (NON-SPANDEX) pants which seem to be back in style with schools like LSU,OHIO ST, OKLA. When Bama wore the commerative UNI's in 06' - they had these style pants. Also would like to see the pants with loopless belt sleeve - therefore it is one uniform look. Continue to use the white belt with a Script "A" belt cover. Then have the script "A" opposite the NIKE logo on the pants.
SHOES - Got to continue with the black - only good decision Bill Curry ever made - and maybe black short socks.

OTHER POINTS: Now there is a rumor about BAMA being couted by Adidas this year- Adidas has already secured the Michigan contract, what do you guys think - and has anybody heard anything about this.

FINALLY: I've emailed Mal Moore on this subject - hopefully he takes it ointo consideration.

i really think that the furtilizer they use on the field at bds needs to be changed.

A little FYI we don't do rumors on this website. The only reason this is still here is for the fun factor.

No Adidas's. That use to be UT's main contractor. I am pleased with Nike. I have never liked the styles and designs of UT's Adidas's wear. But, I hate orange anyway. I like the idea of the white helmets again.:BigA:

I think the 'Crimson' in the uniforms from 'back in the day' was slightly darker. These new jerseys are borderline BLOOD RED. Examples:

I prefer the DARKER Crimson, as opposed to this sissified red stuff.

Sorry if the pics are too large...

For those saying don't mess with the uniforms - well the uniforms have changed throughout the years. What I'm talking about is small changes which will accent and make the overall uniform look classier and sharp. I'm saying change the uniform back to what it once was - not the shiny spandex generation that started in the 90's. The overall template for the uniform would remain the same - as it has for all these years - just look at the Houndstooth UNI's from 06' if you don't understand. This year the flat colored jersey with semn numbers- did not go with the shiny spandex pants - hell even the NY Giants got that right.

If we changed our uniforms entirely, then we'd be unoriginal. Let's keep it traditional: red helmet with white NUMBERS printed on them; crimson jersey with white (vice versa for away games) numbers and absolutely NOTHING on the shoulders. And the traditional white pants with crimson stripes down the side.

If we changed any of that up, we wouldn't be Alabama. Plain and simple.

I agree - the only thing- besides going back to flat colored uniforms- that would be acceptable would be the white helmets - and posiibly houndstooth trim - for the jerseys - or a third jersey for that matter. White pants are a must - absolutely no crimson pants. Also there have been comments before about going back to Russell because it wa san Alabama based company. When I see a Russell uniform on a team - like Auburn a couple of years ago - I think second rate college who couldn't secure a top notch sponsorship!! - Alabama Football is greater then the State of Alabama- it is a National Treasure and we should recognize and treat it as such. Nick treat's it like that - thus resulting in #1 recruiting class in the nation!

Adidas is making a major run at competing with Nike in the College Football arena - they have signed 2 major NIKE prohrams in the last year - Texas A&M and Michigan - so don't be surprised to see Bama. Yes the Tennessee UNI's are horrible - but that isn't the fault of Adidas! LOL They actually did a good job on Texas A&M's uniforms - plus they offer an exclusive representative for each school - whereas Nike does not. I prefer the Nike Swoosh as opposed to the Adidas Trade Mark - but if Adidas offers a sweeter deal - you can go ahead and count on the change. I've heard complaints from Bama fans that Nike never got the color Crimson right anyway - so maybe Adidas will - keep your eyes peeled!

Is this the thread where we can discuss moving Jimmy Johns to LB? For those of you who don't know he came to Alabama as a QB and moved to RB but some have felt he would be able to contribute more at LB, thoughts.:biggrin2::biggrin2:
