Bama vs Clemson

We WILL beat Clemson...I feel it in my bones.

If our rb's can run the ball and JPW does'nt get rattled. I think they will blitz JPW hard just to see if they can rattle him early on(hopefully his confidence will be better this year).

If my memory serves me right, it has been a very, very long time since we've beaten a ranked, nonconference opponent in a regular season contest. The last time I recall it happening was all the way back in 1986 when we opened against Ohio State. So, yes, I agree that a win against Clemson would be HUGE.

Was Penn State ranked when we beat them on the road in 1989? They seem to be the most recent good OOC opponent that we've beaten...from what I remember. We never really played anyone that good OOC under Stallings. Dubose couldn't beat UCLA...Fran couldn't beat Oklahoma and neither could Shula. Let's hope CNS fares better this fall.

BTW...I was watching Crimson Classics last night and it was the 1990 Bama/UT game where we blocked the FG and then Doyle made one for us to win it. I forgot how young that team was. Over half of that team's defense was still playing in 1992 when we won the NC...the playmakers at least. One can only hope that all of this young talent we have on defense right now will pay off ten fold in the coming years. Defense wins Championships!

I think our d-line will dominate their o-line in this game. I think as we speak our o-line is actually better than their o-line and that is not a good thing. I think I was more afraid of McFadden and Jones than I will be of Davis and Spiller. They are both good backs but Tommy Bowden always finds a way to leave one of them with a few touches. Ill save my prediction for this game until we get the freshman in during the summer.

great point, RTR. our defense has faced tougher offenses. keep in mind, we come from the greatest conference in college football. if we are up on our A game we can beat any school from any conference.:BigA:

Really? Their Dline better than our Oline? When do you think our Oline will be good? I couldn't disagree more. We have an all american lineman who will probably be the first lineman picked in next year's draft, one of the best centers in the country, and the rest are very quality players. Our Oline probably won't be any better over the next 4 years.

i hate praising anything about clemson but their d-line is really really good. very athletic, plus they have size. i will believe in our o-line when they prove it on the field. it has been so many yrs since we have had a dominating o-line that i have forgotten what it even looks like. i would love to see our line steamroll them all day long, but i gotta see it before i believe it.

Well, I certainly hope our OL is better than someone's this year. They have been a clear diappointment for the past 3-4 years.
