Bama vs. Indy in the Rose Bowl - Jan. 1

I would think OSU offense is better than ours, so that could be a problem.
Yea, it would definately take some good breaks, maybe an early not. I do have confidence we'll pressure the qb more than he's accustomed to. Maybe it'll all add up to mistakes on their part and we can get some offense on our p[art we haven't seen in a while.

Can we hand the ball to RW? 😭🤷🏼‍♂️😎

We could and I understand why in theory others are suggesting it but I still don’t think it would work unless it’s a misdirected WR reverse type play that completely fools IU and they have no defenders in the area.

Anytime he has the ball near the LOS at the perimeter he’s jittery and dancing around trying to not get touched.

There have been several sideline plays where if he just ran he’d get a 1st down or 6-8 yards or so but instead he gets tackled almost where he gets the ball or gets maybe 2-3 yards.

He’s an absolute headcase about not getting hit.

But even still I’d cut him some slack if he’d show up in other phases of his role like blocking for his fellow WRs and TEs and RBs instead of avoiding that too and our other guys getting tackled.

I don't need to rewatch the game.

28-7 is a blowout.

And again, I didn't say we'd get blown out by IU.

You can spin it however you like, but losing 28-7, regardless of injuries, and bad field position (which is part of the game after all) is a blowout.

It is what it is.
It was a blowout to me. That game was a culmination of a lot pressure for uga to win and the fact that we were totally depleted mentally and physically. Had we had another week to rest I think it would have been a different game. IU is going to be tough but we have had some time off to heal and plan. Not sure it will be enough to win be we sure ain't getting blown out in that game. Winner will have a 3-4 point edge and will probably go to the wire.

Vandy fans we're pretty mouthy too...

Their fans will likely outnumber us in the Rose Bowl simply because they have not been there in 70 years.

This is the time where defense wins championships. Play mistake free offense and winning defense and we will be fine. Odds are high it will be an All-SEC national championship.
If they don’t show up at the UCLA basketball arena.

Sullivan received his Heisman the week before the Bama game and had by far his worst game of the year!
Just a bit on the Heisman Race in 1971. Ed Marinaro of Cornell was the leading rusher in the country and the East Coast media put on a huge campaign for him. He went on to play for the Vikings and then a fairly successful career as an actor. Pat had a tremendous game against undefeated Georgia the week before throwing for four touchdowns. Furman Bisher, Atlanta Constitution, wrote I voted for Pat Sullivan, He did his talking on the football field! IMO there has never been a better human being who received the Heisman Trophy than the late Pat Sullivan!

Pat Sullivan was indeed a class act and a heck of a competitor on the football field. Watching him and Terry Beasley connect on those passes was a thing of beauty, and I personally have always despised Auburn! Another great man who won the Heisman in 1973 was Penn State's John Cappelletti, who in his Heisman acceptance speech dedicated the award to his younger brother Joey, who was dying of leukemia. Never been a Penn St fan either, but Cappelletti was and is a fine man.

Ohio State is the master of the portal. Kind of Iike the Yankees dominated NLB before salary caps...
Though I lost a TON of respect for him, Lane Kiffin is the Portal Master, IMO.

This paragraph was both amusing, and it told me this writer is just another warped B1G Centered goofball. I don't think this guy knows college ball.

"Both offenses have played against some of the best defenses in the country this season. Indiana has won battles against Iowa, Oregon, Penn State and Ohio State. Meanwhile, Alabama has struggled to move the ball at times, including against Georgia in the SEC Championship. If the metrics play out similarly on New Year's Day, Indiana's offense looks to be in better shape."

Has Alabama ever played a game like this before? I'm struggling to remember ever going against a historically atrocious team with a #1 ranking and perfect season on the line in the postseason.

There may be, but I’ve been following Alabama football since 1958 and I can’t recall such. The novelty factor alone would make this a must see.

That’s why it’s hard for me to have much empathy for student athletes making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. When you take a check as a teen it’s time to man up!
In no way a jab at you, mind, VirginiaTide for using it, but “ student athlete “ has got to be one of, if not THE, most ridiculous terms in sports. I haven’t set foot in a college classroom since 1988 and I’m more of a student than the vast majority of these guys, I would wager.

They beat tOSU we beat a better UGA club…
Agreed, and while Ohio State can make a case for being the most talented team in the country, their QB is a rookie. I know the kid is very talented no doubt, but; he is still a rookie and they sometimes make rookie mistakes.
We can do this.
ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think some of y'all may have let the comeback win against Oklahoma affect you like the Indiana fans and some of their players feel after beating tOSU. I do not know how good Indiana is, but they beat tOSU which is arguably the most talented team in college football. Cignetti is a very good coach and having coached for CNS a number of years he is not going to let his team buy into we beat tOSU, and Alabama isn't nearly as good. Yes, we have more overall talent than Indiana, played a tougher schedule, but whether our coaching is better is yet to be seen.
I agree. I still think we have a lot of talent on our team, but I've also watched us look incompetent at times this year. We have played a few very good quarters of football this year, but we are now to the part of the season where we need complete games of competence and effort. I hope we can do it, but I'm not very confident. Remember the Rose Bowl...Roll Tide!

Mendoza against top rated teams:
OSU 15/23. 222yds, 1TD, 1INT, 13pts
Iowa 13/23, 2TD, 1INT, 20pts
Oregon 20/31, 1TD, 1INT, 30pts
Not spectacular; our defense can give him problems if we contain their running game a bit.
Important stats. Where their national stats are impressive, it's clear they are exaggerated by their easy schedule.

And, it's not an excuse, but we flat out dropped the ball against FSU statistically, IIRC and we know how putrid we were against Georgia in the SECCG because of our injuries.

Those games happened, but I imagine our overall stats would look alot different if you replaced those games with a couple of the easy games Indy had on their schedule.

I understand what you are saying.

His problem is he is still doing what he did in HS...catching the ball with his body. His "hands" are not college "elite" but my point is his "feet" are!

Figure out a way to get the ball in his hands (the easiest way...probably a handoff) and let him go to work with his feet. There's a reason after he gets the ball that defenders have trouble taking the right angles to tackle him. It's because his "feet" are elite too.

To me this in Grubb's job...figure out our advantages and steal some plays with our elite talent!
Williams scares me to death when he possesses the ball in traffic. He’s had turnovers because he doesn’t secure the ball very well. IMO, give Ty adequate time and try to hit him on a go route early in the game. If successful, we could then maybe loosen them up and have a little success running the ball.
