Bama vs. Penn State?

Seems a bit presumptive. A top 20 team looking for blood, a bitter rival who sees a big target on our back, and a top 5 team stand between us and that match up.

Am I the only one who thinks Texas's loss was bad for Bama?

It doesnt really matter what anyone else does. We have to win out to have a shot at it all. I dont buy into the theory that teams will play harder against us now that we may be #1 instead of # 2.

Good in some ways, but the target on our back just got much bigger.
But I also think that CNS knows how to deflect some of those shots.

I agree that Tech made Texas look bad. But it also showed the value of defense, and exposed McCoy as a bit of a fraud when confronted with some actual D.

Tech still has to play Ok and Ok St, so have a good chance of taking a loss. If they win out, they have a strong claim on a bid, but not a greater claim than Texas would have had.

As for a potential Alabama matchup, really, these guys have so far played nobody except for Texas. Nebraska took them to OT. We all feared Texas until last night when Tech made them look dull. Our team simply needs to stick to Plan A, win out, and we'll be in the big game.

And TTT, I would love to see a Penn St matchup.

Football is not for wimps. Number 1 is exactly where want to be. This way we take control away from the media and determine our own destiny. ROLL TIDE!

I can't see anyone playing someone harder because they are ranked #1 instead of #2. Maybe a little more if #1 instead of # 16 or something.

If we do make it to BCS Title Game I would rather lose to Penn State than anyone else.

I had a very calm and relaxed time watching the Texas-T. Tech game. I really did not care who won. It is either in "the cards" for us to go all the way, or it isn't. This is exactly how I felt about the '92 team.

So, if we do win it all I will dance for joy. If we don't, then I am not going to let it drag me down (as long as we beat the goobers, that is.)

We'll be number 1 today. That's a good thing. if some of you guys have majors problems with it, then seek therapy. Think of it this way. If we do lose one, we don't fall as far and we get a good bowl anyway.

:) We can dream cant we?

Yes, at last, we can dream and I like the match up, it is a throw back like me. :)

I like our chances in that matchup. We still have a long road ahead, starting with LSU.

Very true. If I were a Penn St. fan I could look forward, without anxiety, and see that coming down the pike. But, I am a Bama fan and Bama plays a real schedule, no way we should be looking any farther than LSU, then MSU, then the Barn, then Florida in the SECCG. Don't get me wrong I think that we can do it but...We ain't no Penn St.

:BigA: RTR!

I agree. To all those who are worried about IF we are #1 I say, "Don't be afraid of success." Don't hide behind the thought that we should be #2. That's how Auburn thinks. We are Bama. We want to be #1.

Hey Redwood,

I enjoy your posts. I feel that the fact that Texas was #1 and TT had never beaten a number 1 coupled with 5 straight losses to the 'Horns added a little extra to the game.

My son is a Longhorn gard and was pushing me to get BCS tickets. ( He is a Democrat and does not worry about counting his chickens before they hatch).

One game at a time, starting with LSU.

Roll Tide Roll ..... once again.

We don't even need to be thinking about Penn State. #1 doesn't seem like a good place to be this season. One game at a time.

Roll Tide!!!!!!!!!!

I'd just as soon be #2 right now, but that isout of my control.

I like our chances against PSU should it come down to us and them...

I don't think that is fair to McCoy at all. He was hitting his receivers in the first half, they just weren't catching them. I counted no less than 8 drops. Losing Quan also took out a big part of our offense. McCoy played great to get us back in the game, and if we would have just caught the ball like we have all season long Texas would still be undefeated. Texas just didn't look like the same team all game. Part of it was what Tech was doing, but a lot of it was injuries and fatigue. I'm disappointed that we lost (especially since we had the game gift wrapped and dropped the interception), but that was one of the toughest stretches of football I've seen a team go through. I'll take the 3 wins and bet money we'll be back in the title picture before the season is over.

Blame McCoy? Not me. Receivers and O-line seemed the problem to me.

I agree, there were were a lot of dropped passes for sure that hurt Texas in the first half. Texas had already played a tough three games and won. No team can be at the top of their game every week. But give Texas credit, they did not lay down down. They fought back and had the game won but then Texas Tech did not lay down and quit. If anything this game gave me more respect for Colt McCoy, he did not quit and did not let his team quit. He is a leader that gave his team a chance to win. To me that should be what the Heisman is all about. Not a popularity contest.

I wonder how bad the media is meltdown is going be since TTU jumped PSU in the new BCS poll. There is less than .010% difference, but if TTU doesn't lose, I can't PSU catching them. We are solidly #1 with a .9747% average, but MSU and AU may hurt us a little down the line.
