Great win for Alabama however; It was a sloppy efforts by the players.

Few things that caught my attention:
1. Alex Reese struggled last night. He went 1-5 from the field and only had 2 points. We were blessed to have Lewis and Petty picking up the workload. I'm concerned about Shackleford. I suspect he is having mental issues on the court. Hopefully, he'll figure it out.

2. Petty has been on a roll the last few games. You can tell his confidence is getting bigger in each game he plays.

3. 19-29 at Free throw line. Not bad at all.
4. We had 25 turnovers... but what concerns me is the sloppy passing from Lewis and Petty. Both have 7 and 6 turnovers respectively. They really need to work on Ball control when passing the ball while racing down the court.
5. Vandy will be very good team once they get some players coming in for next season. Stackhouse is doing great job with the team. If they hadn't had all those injuries, they would be a winning team by now. They will be a force to be reckon next year.
6. I'm afraid We may lose Davis for a while. That didn't look good last night. I"m praying that it is not torn hamstring.

If Davis is seriously hurt, that could be a big blow. If we match up with a big team inside, we would be at a severe disadvantage. We are already thin inside and we would lose an agile, big man. Hope it is nothing serious. It was weird the way he fell a couple of times and then collapsed after he ran down the court.
You know we have another player on the roster, Hawkins.
Davis kept getting hit in same spot 3 times in a row and that was weird sequence to watch.

I've only been to Vandy for a game one time, but it's a weird arena. Looks equally weird on TV. Haven't stood on the court, but I suspect the shooting background is very different too. And it always seems their rims are the tightest in the conference.

Said all that to say it's not uncommon to see our guys struggle to shoot the ball there and it's not surprising at all to hear that Reese struggled because he has such a flat shot. Flat shot on tight rims means you have to be perfect.

I found it very worrisome. When I blew my left ACL, another player landed on top of me, bending my left knee awkwardly. Hurt like hell, but I got up and walked it off. The next trip down the floor, I planted my left foot and, of course, my femur shot out over my Tibia, with nothing to hold it, and landed me on the floor. I knew then what had happened. His episode looked all too familiar...

I had some of the same thoughts. One of the guys I used to play with had a similar arc, or, rather, lack of it, just barely cleared the front of the rim and just barely scraped under the rear. We used to ask him why he didn't put more air under the ball. He couldn't. Even for a 6'9" guy, it shrinks the size of the basket dramatically. Then, their rims have the two supports, rather than one, like everyone else, which produces the famous "tightness." The long rebounds from treys sure are impressive. At one point, there was a movement in the conference to have every game played there start with a technical foul against Vandy, but Rupp took their side and that was the end of that...

What's the story on Hawkins? Are they trying to preserve a redshirt for him? If Davis is out, we may have to utilize Hawkins...

Javian appeared to be clutching the back of his knee. I don't what that means, but figure you might have an idea.

Not sure why you are concerned with Shackleford. He scored 15 pts, had 7 rebs, 1 assist, 1 steal, only 2 TO's and was 7 of 8 from the FT line and is our best FT shooter on the team. He is the 3rd leading scorer on the team averaging over 12 pts/game. Pretty good stuff for a true freshman.

Actually, it's good news. What's back there is the PCL and it's a lot harder to injure than an ACL. Usually ruptures of that ligament are part of a total blowout, with injuries to the LCL, MCL, ACL and PCL. If we're lucky, it's just a strain and he may miss a couple of games...

I think that what he's talking about are some freshman mistakes he made. OTOH, Petty and Lewis, upperclassmen, were also making freshman mistakes...

Honestly, if I'm "handicapping" players right now, I'm most concerned about Kira. I know he was supposed to be in HS last year (how many times did we hear that?) but now he got enough games under his belt at this level to not be making such silly mistakes with the ball. I love him as a player but I'd like to see him be smarter with his passes and dribbling into impossible situations. He needs to slow his game down a little in transition, which I know is opposite of what CNO preaches, but Kira can slow down, be smarter with the ball, and still be faster than most because he's so fast to begin with! And, I'd like to see him take a few more 3's. What's up with that???

I think he's lost confidence in his shot. Last year, he never passed up an open three...

His best game thus far has been the game against the Barn, that should be his reference point for continued growth imo
