Did anyone else who has an account with BamaStuff.com receive an email today about a possible breach of security? I'm just trying to find out if it was only my account that was attacked or the whole site. My Xbox Live account was hacked a week ago and I'm just trying figure out if this is related or just a coincidence. Not to sound rude or insensitive but, I hope it was an attack on the whole site. If it was just my account then I have a bigger problem then I originally thought.

Mods, I wasn't sure which forum to it this in so please move it if you think there is a more appropriate area.

I got one too. It's been so long since I ordered from them though I'm guessing if any card number was compromised it's already expired already.

Different passwords and the credit card BamaStuff had on file was one I had canceled last year sometime so, I'm not to worried about losing money. Just trying to see if it might be connected to the incident with my XBL account but, since someone else got the same email it appears BamaStuff.com was attacked and the two are not related. Still sucks though.

I didn't get that e-mail, but I have ordered from Zappos in the past and there was a breach problem there. I got an email from them last week to change my password. I am not worried because the credit card I used last year which was on file is no longer active since I upgraded to a better Continental MasterCard in the fall. This is scary how these things happen with these security breaches.

My bank closed my credit card last week and mailed us new cards because of a fraud situation. I didn't even know it was happening and didn't know about any breach with any vendor. I got this email yesterday and the pieces came together. Many people complain about BoA, but they took care of me this time.

I got the same email - actually, I got that email 4 times yesterday (??). I am planning to cancel my card today - I agree with Spartacus...better safe than sorry.

Several years ago I heard Dave Ramsey recommend getting one of these prepaid Visa cards from Wal-Mart. When you want to buy something on line you just put the amount of money you are going to spend on the card since you don't have to keep a minimum balance. That way if something like this were to happen the hackers would not have access to your checking or savings accounts. I have one that I keep a small amount on, $1.21 right now, and it has worked out well for us. Of course I have my banks debit card also.

I just bought stuff from them but got no emails about security breach. Should I be worried?

Not if your first order was very recent. The email I received included the following: "We are almost certain that orders placed after January 16th are not affected based on the access logs on the server. It appears to be a one time attack and we have taken numerous steps to fend off any future ones. We suggest those who placed their first order with us after 16th to monitor their bank statements for any fraudulent activities."

Yes, I got the same email.. I actually just had to cancel our debit card due to this matter. There were over $100.00 in charges for match.com that was attempted to be charged to our account. We just placed an order with them before Christmas using this card. Looks like if you placed an order after January 16th, you should be fine. If you ordered before that, I would be very concerned.

Interesting. My mother just found out that her debit card (has been used at BamaStuff.com) was used without permission by kids buying video games in a hotel at 2am.

I got the email as well and called the bank and have a new debit card on the way. You can't be too safe anymore!

No bad activity yet, but now I can understand why it has taken them over a week to ship out my NC junk.

a friend of mine was just telling me he got hit for 2 separate fraudulent purchases after he bought from bamastuff. nearly $600 worth of charges. i would take this seriously.
