Depends on their qualifications. If they are qualified for the job (mostly meaning prior coaching experience/success), then I have no problem with a staff of ex players.

I don't think we should have to hire a first-time coach like we did with Phillips. I understand they have to start coaching somewhere, but a school in a major D1 conference is not a place to "learn on the job"

Phillips isn't a coach. He's an on the staff tutor to a couple of his favorites.
