How does State get so many great prospects from inside Alabama? On my way home just now they were saying that State's first baseman is a freshman from the Mobile area and that they had another huge prospect from Mobile signed for next year. They mentioned another couple of guys with State ties, and that seems to be more normal than not. And disturbingly, they also mentioned a couple of guys who were committed to Goff but had de-committed.

One of the first things Nick Saban did when he got here was send Lance Thompson to the Gulf Coast to lock down the Mobile area, and those guys helped us on to a road of lasting success. We do not need the best players from coastal Alabama heading to S'ville.

Right now, Miss St is to baseball what Alabama is to football, a perennial national contender. Alabama is to baseball what Miss St is to football. A good baseball team but fades later in conference play. Right now, you can see how a top Alabama kid would want to play for Miss St no different than a Mississippi 5 star would commit to Bama football.
CBB trimmed the freshman class back to effectively 2 kids, the catcher and the lefty. Signed a small group in the 2018 class. So, it appears there will be a major class of more seasoned JUCO kids that might show up in the fall to accelerate the win percentage. Once Bama can pull off a Coastal Carolina or UC-SB, then it will be easier to recruit the in-state kids to Bama imo.

Yep give CBB time and we WILL have talent on campus, he has proven that everywhere he has gone.

Like we have discussed before, the lottery has a lot to do with it. The in-state kids are going to MSU for free so they can offer scholarships to out of state kids plus they are a good team or was before the coach decided that woman was more important than his job.

Lottery has nothing to do with it in Mississippi. They have no lottery in that state either. What the Mississippi schools do is lower the out of state fees for top out of state talent by quite a substantial margin. Alabama does not do that- yet. The state legislature in Mississippi passed a law to enable schools to do that. Huge advantage. Believe Byrne will address this if he has not already.

Duh I should have known that, got them mixed in with the other lottery states.

That puts us at a huge disadvantage as we're seeing all the top talent leave the state
