Me either. I think college basketball as a whole is down this year.

There are zero really powerful teams. And as far as the Big 10 dominance goes, Wiscosin lost to North Dakota State at home! NDSU started 4 redshirt freshmen! :) :) :)
 
It will be very interesting to see what the Selection Committee does. SEC is down while the CAA and MVC are up... MVC especially. MVC is above the Pac10 top to bottom this year, even. Can the MVC and CAA get 3 bids each? It will be interesting to see what's done because there are at least 4 MVC teams with very good RPIs (which do supposedly factor in SOS). Big East is likely to get 8 teams this year. ACC will get about the usual most likely. Big X is strong this year. Big XII, SEC, and CUSA are down. So it will be interesting to see whether the Selection Committee puts alot more of those MVC and CAA teams in over Big XII, SEC, and CUSA teams. I think Alabama really needs 18 to be pretty safe (even with your SOS).
 
I don't think it matters what the media and fans think of the SEC this year. The RPI for the conference is fine and so is our own RPI. Picking the brackets is actually a pretty objective, scientific process, it goes by RPI's mainly and not fans and media's perceptions. Otherwise guys like Lundardi wouldn't be able to so accurately predict who gets in in, he wouldn't be able to do so if it was based more on things like perception. If he thinks we're on pace to get in, then we probably are, whether the SEC is thought of as down or not.

want to believe him. It's apparent that assumptions have to be made about how we (and our opponents) will do the rest of the season. We've grown a lot. We just need to get rid of the UGA-type games...(I guess, in part, that means JD has got to play smart and not get into foul problems).
 
I guess some people just look at it different. Sure, I can see where it would seem a pretty good accomplishment to loose your top guy and still make the tournament to some people. Especially a kid. But, it just doesn't mean that much to me to go to the tournament and not make it at least as far as the Sweet 16.
 
Definitely, I mean you always have a chance once you get there, you might end up having some kind of favorable draw or maybe your team just peaks at the right time. Don't get me wrong, with 7 players and our lack of consistent shooting from anybody besides Steele, I don't think well do much damage. But when we made it to the elite 8 I wasn't even sure we were gonna make it out of the first round(and we almost didn't) and then look what happened. I don't expect us to make any kind of big run, and I don't think we have the same kind of weapons as we did that year, but even if we lose in the first round or the second I'd rather have that than the NIT
 
As I said above...

it may not mean much to a certain segment of our fan base, but it's certainly noticed by the guys we're recruiting...
 
We get Florida and Tenn. at home. We win those 2 and were in good shape. Assuming we win against Vandy, Miss St. on the road, we might get in. At Arkansas has walking into a buzzsaw written all over it. That would be a big win. Ole Miss handled us earlier but weve played better lately. That would be a big win Sat. South Carolina? Dont know much about them. If we beat FL and UT we are in good shape. Oh yeah, NEED TO WIN TONIGHT against Vandy.
