Hey everybody I am a Nashville, TN Tide fan and I am going to Starkville for the game on Saturday and wanted to ask anyone the fastest way to go?? I have used yahoo, google and mapquest and is it quicker going through TN to Tupelo(North MS) or go 65S through Bham to Tuscaloosa to Starkville??

A few years ago, after the Music City Bowl, I took I-40 to Jackson, TN, then drove south on Hwy. 45 to just west of Columbus, then got on Hwy. 82 west to Starkville. Didn't take me that long. It's four-laned all the way.

Great man thanks! I found that route also and I think that is the one I am going to take. I am glad it is all four laned. I have also thought about going down the Natchez Trace.

I second the "Natchez Trace" route to Tupelo then Hwy 45 South to Columbus.
Just don't speed, if it says 50 Mph be leery of doing 55 Mph.

I have been both ways from Nashville to Tupelo. I like the 4 lane better because the Trace is 60 mph speed limit at best. I cannot stand to drive that slow plus they will write you a ticket quickly on the Trace. But, once you get to Tupelo, it is quicker to take 45 to 82 to Starkville. The Trace gets off close to Starkville but you have to drive a little ways back to Starkville. It is simply a matter of preference.

. . . and set your clock back twenty years :biggrin2:

The Trace is pretty, but these folks posting about the speed enforcement aren't kidding. Especially if you are trying to make it down that morning for the early start, take I-40.

You'll need this.....no paved roads into Starkville.

I live in Jackson (TN) I would take I 40 to here then 45 south on the way down. If you are staying and driving back Sunday, take the Trace back and savour the victory. Don't try the Trace at night. LOTS of deer.
