I've been holding back this post out of pure laziness. I guess since no one else will mention it, I will.

Bama and the SEC will take on the Big Easthttp://alabama.scout.com/2/539424.html on the hardcourt starting in '07 for 3 years. Each year only 4 SEC and 4 Big East teams will participate. The matchups are TBD.

The Southeastern Conference will participate in a men's basketball showcase event involving the Big East Conference beginning in December, 2007. The agreement is for a three-year cycle with four games each year. Four SEC and four Big East teams will participate in each year with all 12 SEC teams participating over the three-year term.

Match-ups will be determined at a later date. Alabama could play in any one of the three years of the event.

The games will be played on December 5 and 6 in 2007, December 10 and 11 in 2008, and December 9 and 10 in 2009.

Two neutral sites–one in SEC territory and one Big East site–will host two games each year. All games will be televised by either ESPN or ESPN2.

What is the general opinion on this? I'm very excited we set this up with the Big East rather than the Big 12. The Big East is bar none the best basketball league in the country and what a way to boost attendence and SEC hoops exposure than to take on the basketball behemoth the Big East. Though we will only have 4 games in the first 3 years, I have a feeling this relationship can grow and possibly become a permament fixture with more games each year, depending on the success.

The Big East is a tougher, but much better match up for the SEC. Much better exposure in the DC, Philly & NYC markets. Big 12, who cares?

I like the ACC-Little 11 challenge or SEC/Big East, but I think these need to be more like the old ACC-Big East challenge, with nuetral court, double headers at places like the Meadowlands, Phillips Arena, MSG, etc. instead of home court contests.

Sounds great to me!

Bama @ Rutgers - Meadowlands
Bama @ Seton Hall - Meadowlands
Bama @ St. John's - New NETS Arena in Brooklyn NY or Madison Square Garden.

Very cool!

I would like to see more of the Tide Basketball in person.

Has anyone seen their 06-07 schedule? UK relased their's about 4 weeks ago.

We are usually one of the later teams to release their schedule. By the time we release it, you can basically fill out our schedule by every other team releasing their schedule.
