BREAKING Big Ten, SEC creating joint advisory group of ADs, presidents to address college sports problems

All the big players are in these conferences which means the bulk of the big money 💰 revenue. A lot of leverage in this "group".
I saw a ???news??? article on News Network tonight.
They tell the world that the SEC and the BIG 10 are ruining college football. That it started when the SEC admitted Texas and Oklahoma, then the Big 10 responded by admitting more teams.
At this point every problem in the NCAA was blamed on the SEC and the Big10. About 15 minutes later that article disappeared.
Sounds like the NCAA is panicking.

It sounds like at least one knuckle head in the NCAA decided to declare war, but... Didn't realize that our 'Advisory Committee' will see that as just another log added to the fire.
I hope other people saw the ill advised 'News Article'.
Thing is it was on the internet, so that article is out there somewhere. This may be good.

I would venture to say the majority of the broadcasting revenue are in these two conferences. That's A LOT of leverage. Lol!

Do you remember what site it was on? If so, have at it:

The key thing is ESPN owns the ACC. In a few years ESPN can either pull the lever for heaven or hell on the ACC’s “ironclad” agreement on grant of rights. I have a feeling that ESPN would venture into strengthening the SEC and Big XII with the remaining valuable teams so I think FSU’s positioning points towards that possibility.

One thing this won't be is boring. But I can't see the suits making a system that is remotely equitable for the students when their hands are so firmly stuck in the cookie jar themselves. Greed at many levels has wrecked the schools athletic sports system, and the folks running that system aren't likely going to become less greedy.

This issue has been on the horizon for a long time. It is my understanding that the only schools in the ACC that either of the conferences would want would be Virginia and UNC. No other school has the "market" that those schools have.
Lots of talk about Clemson and Florida State, but Clemson is way behind USC in market and the same with Florida State vs. Florida.
I have two degrees from Wake Forest but deep down I have to admit that Wake is not in the same league with schools like Alabama.
I also have a degree from UVa and even that state U is not in the league with Alabama marketwise. However, never turn down a school with the name University of (insert name of a state).

And the CFP apocalypse creeps ever closer. Can we say there are trust issues ?

The PAC-2 should be allowed to sit at this table and have any say, neither should ND (get in a league already).

Sounds like 2026 would be a great year for the SEC/Big Ten to announce their creation of the National Collegiate Football League (NCFL) where the SEC/Big Ten only play each other and have their own playoffs and championships.

If what comes out of this morass is an NFL light, I'm probably done. I don't care for the excessive pay prima donnas pay for play model in sports. I don't watch sports to see which player feels like putting effort out or not based upon their paycheck. College sports should be MORE about having some fun, bragging right, and developing yourself as a person for your future, not just maximizing your short term paycheck. This really should go for all involved, including the coaches, admins, schools etc. I'm sure I'm in the minority. I don't care if the players get paid as employees, NIL, $100 handshakes or not in the end, but when everything revolves around money, it's no longer a fun competition between school sports, it's just another business that I won't watch.

Most things where money is involved in any capacity have always revolved around money. The problem is the NCAA, college programs, etc. never did anticipate this would come so they didn't get out in front of it and now the tail is wagging the dog so to speak.

Now that we are where we are, maybe after the O'Bannon lawsuit and the EA Sports video game "going away" for what amounted to NIL, the NCAA and the universities should have gotten out in front or had a little more foresight of where college athletics could go, and did something to keep this day from ever getting here. Granted, it is easy for me to sit here and type that because regardless of any type of smoke signals, I'm certain no one ever imagined college football could go the way it is now going. But it is...
