Bigger, better Bryant-Denny Stadium takes shape
It was easy to see the big picture of the latest Bryant-Denny Stadium expansion from the blueprints.

In fact, it’s a picture that’s very large indeed. The project will make the University of Alabama’s stadium the seventh-largest on-campus facility in the country, behind only three behemoths in the Big 10 (Michigan, Penn State and Ohio State) and three in the SEC (Tennessee, Georgia and the newly renovated stadium at LSU). It will include a new upper deck and club level, a new locker room for the Crimson Tide and new scoreboards, a list of amenities that has already been widely reported.
CECIL HURT: Stadium expansion an investment in Tide’s future
You won’t hear it as you drive down University Boulevard but rest assured that, as you pass the new Bryant-Denny Stadium expansion, a shot is most definitely being fired.

In fact, it might even be two shots.

The new addition to the venerable stadium is impressive, but it’s meant to be impressive -- for two reasons.

What I found interesting is while we spent $50 mill on our renovation, Michigan is about to spend $226 mill on renovating the Big House. Wow.

That's more than our entire fundraising project altogether. But (without looking up the alumni figures) I'd think that's probably in line with what Michigan can expect. We could spend $226 million on Bryant-Denny, too, but we'd have to raise it first and then it comes down to whether our alumni base can support such a request. Given that Alabama's alumni giving percentage is already high, I would suspect the answer is no.

I would also wager a lot of Michigan's money will be spent on items Alabama already has -- meaning, the already-in-place luxury boxes on the east side, the press box area, etc. The Big House's current state of being is old with a capital O.
