What do yall think Blake Sims role in the offense will be? Wildcat? Receiver? 3rd down RB? I have heard this kid has a disgusting amount of talent, so how are we going to utilize him? And if we aren't, would he consider transferring somewhere that would use him more than we are?

I would really like to see Blake get on the field more this year and show his talent. I think it was some what of a set back for him in the spring when he injured himself playing basketball I think and could not participate in spring football.

I don't like to get into details on injuries on players who continue on active roster, but I'm not sure how in hell he injured himself as badly as he did playing basketball. I certainly don't want to play with his bunch. And, yes, it was a significant setback...

back when i was a freshman we watched julio and some other players play outside rose towers and they don't mess around they go full speed ha, no wonder saban hates when they play...

Saban has indicated that he will have a role on offense this year specifically at QB. I hope that proves true. The guy is talented.

I've wanted to see Blake in action for a couple of years but for way way totally different reasons, it's almost becoming like, "When will we see Duron Carter"?

Let me qualify. Blake is a fine young hard working person and player.

It just seems like he gets a ton of discussion for a guy who may actually never really play, much like the Duron threads.

All I'm saying.

Personally I'd love to see him in the wildcat because he can run and throw.

I had no idea about the injury, but I hope he recovers because it's probably a fact that if anything happens to A.J. that Blake may indeed be our first backup, at least for the upcoming season.

I guess we shall wait and see.

I'd like to see him get some early work at QB. NOT WILDCAT... QB. This would be the best case scenario for the team and make his WC package more effective later in the year. $.02.

I actually agree with this. When we're in mopup time in week two or three, Sims and Ely should split time. Keep a few things in the playbook for Blake and don't show all the cards, but let him run the offense. He can do it - I was there at A-Day 2011 and the kid throw a football.

Spot on comment. If he doesn't get the opportunity to play QB now I am afraid he will wind up like BJ Scott. To use him only in a wildcat package tips off the opposing defense that a run is coming. With the transfer of P. Sims, IMO, Blake could be a super offensive weapon if used appropriately.

I hope we are using him for mop up duty in week 3!!!

I would like to see Blake in the 'Pistol Formation'. I know we've hardly used it lately, but a more mobile QB would give stronger options
of Pass, Run, or Hand off...

I just have a feeling that, if we get comfortable leads, we'll see more of him than we have of the other backup QBs the last several years...

I think Coach Saban will have the Best on the field to start then get playing time to back ups as needed. It depends on what Blake or Phillip can do when they get the opportunity.

Clearly Vinny was not a stand out D player but when he got the opportunity he made the Most of it & you just got to see him more & more. That is the way it goes for everyone at the Capstone.

Actually Vinnie surpassed Nick Perry and Jarrick Williams, maybe even Ha-Ha relative to the position of need. Kid was a gamer almost the entire year.

I know we have seen Wildcat in the past, but how likely is it that new OC will implement Wildcat packages? Or would Saban have his "input" there?

I have heard that Doug Nussmeier is not as conservative as Jim McElwain was. But I think we all know Saban has a pretty tight leash on the OC anyways.

But what I find interesting and exciting is that this Wildcat formation will be a true wildcat formation with Blake Sims actually being able to throw the ball, rather than Ingram lining up and obviously running. I think even though defenses couldnt stop Ingram, this will be that much more difficult to handle... which is why im sure Saban and Nussmeier will throw a package in there.

IMO, considering the cirumstances, Blake Sims needs to be moved to QB with the full package not jut the "wildcat package". Granted he gives the offense a potentially entirely different dimension, but he has to know and get reps in the base offense to really make a special package "special". Being a gifted athlete and a great HS QB is not enough when facing SEC defenses, ask Jordan Jefferson. This is a make or break situation for Sims in his future at Alabama, it is time he settles into a position and maybe fate has opened one up for him.
