My youngest started at Georgia Southern this fall, majoring in Choral Music Education. They are one of two freshmen selected for Georgia Southern Chorale, one of the top choral groups in the nation.

The GSU School of Music had their Vocal Arts Gala last week. The whole thing is pretty impressive, but Southern Chorale is at 40:51 and 1:48:00.

Thank you @jthomas666. :)

Outstanding group, outstanding performance. Very talented, and very disciplined.

Lily graduated from HS magna cum laude over the weekend. It was a great ceremony with speeches of congratulations and inspiration. Very well done.

The best part of the evening was the standing ovation one of Lily's friends, Madison, received. She was nearly murdered a year ago. She was stalked and attacked by an ex-boyfriend. Stabbed 17 times, 2 punctured lungs, spinal cord injury. In a coma for a while. Paralyzed from the chest down. Has started to walk again after lots of physical therapy. Here's an article with videos from the local news.

After the video from the weekend graduation runs, it will roll over to all the coverage in reverse chronological order, including the original news report about the original attack that nearly killed Madison and severely wounded her Mom and a good samaritan.

Incredibly strong young woman.

Update: The lunatic who nearly murdered Madison, her mom, and a Good Samaritan was sentenced to life in prison.

Re: Brag On You Kid(s)

My kind of topic. :)

My oldest boy is in First Grade and he loves school. He is very smart and does well in school. We have never had problems with his schoolwork and he always gets good grades.

Our youngest is almost 3. He is such a sweetheart, but can be a stinker at times. Lol. He has a huge vocabulary for his age and is very independent. He is also very athletic and is so excited to start Tball in the spring. :)
Wow time has flown. Our oldest is now a senior in high school. He was awarded a presidential scholarship to UAB!

Our youngest is 13 and is still a mess. lol he is still very sweet. He was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes a couple years ago, but he is a huge trooper and has adapted well to his life long battle he will have with T1D

Ok...fine...

One of these is my child: https://kueveronward.org/our-stories/2025-cohort-of-university-scholars-announced/. Almost half-way through pre-med without a hiccup on the transcript, very involved in a number of activities, and actively taking on extras like this. Running her first full marathon this spring after several halves.

Another played a significant role in her HS Robotics team advancing to the State/Regional Championships for the first time in their history. As part of state/regional, the kid is up for this individual recognition: https://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/ftc/deans-list. She also does this: https://www.missouribotanicalgarden...nd-emerging-professionals/outdoor-youth-corps

After a very positive audition/call-back, the third/youngest is waiting to hear if she got a part in this: https://stlshakes.org/on-stage-work/auditions/

What I really love is that these humans put themselves out there.

Lily got her grades back from the Spring semester. All A's again. She has a 4.0 after her freshman year. So far this summer she has been tutoring a special needs kid several times a week. She also did this her junior and senior year of high school. Lily will soon start shadowing a CRNA at my wife's hospital. Besides further first-hand experience, she'll have invaluable interactions with this CRNA, as she is also a professor at the local graduate nursing school. Very good connection for the future. And then Lily will be going to Honduras for her third medical mission in about six weeks. She has her summer stacked with things that will only strengthen her resume. Very proud of her.

My youngest is currently in Amsterdam with GSU's Southern Chorale group for an international competition. GSU is one of three US groups competing. They had a sendoff concert at GSU this past Thursday, where they performed all their competition pieces, along with a few songs they prepped to sing to other groups (insert Pitch Perfect reference here).

Here's a link to the concert. It actually begins at around the 15-minute mark. The non competition songs start at 1:09:51. Keep in mind, the non-competition songs are songs that they really didn't rehearse that much.

Yesterday they called from Belgium, where they performed at St. James Church--a church that is older than the United States. L said it was kind of humbling.
