Out of curiosity I just looked up what was our best hitting team in last 30-40 years.
2003 has a case

Sheffield .330
Giles .316
Chipper .305
Furcal .292
Andruw .277
Castilla .277
Franco .294 off the bench
They have one of the highest collective OPS totals too because OBP carries the same weight as SLG
These meat heads today don’t seem to understand it would be just as valuable to get on base so someone else can drive them in… I mean it’s also usually more likely to hit singles and doubles than homers any way.
But what do any of us know who’ve been watching and studying this game our whole lives.
