Vegas,

Auburn runs about as smash-mouth a system as any of our best wishbone teams. Tricky formations, perhaps, but most of the plays are between the tackles. And their runners are much bigger than Florida's.

If Brent Calloway wants to carry the ball, he'd fit right in. Of course, if we don't get IC, he can probably carry the ball in Tuscaloosa, too.

If you say so. I seem to remember differently.

It will be at least 4 more years before api has the "smash mouth" team they have this year........their 4 OL that have been playing together for 4 years will have used up their eligibility. The aub QB and RB's will find the going much tougher next year.

Good points, HT, but isn't that what many of us were saying going into this season?

I think we get him, but the Iron Bowl may make a big impact. The inconsistent play I see from our LB core may give him quicker PT with us. Mosely is playing a ton this year. We have had at least one Freshman start at linebacker every year since Saban got here. Why shouldn't he be the next?
AU does have some depth at RB now too.
I think Trey DePreist and Shannon Brown might have something to say about Calloway starting at LB as a Freshman. Those three will make each other better because of the competition. Not to mention any other LB Bama might get.

Eh, I don't like reading stuff like this, but honestly it's to be a bit expected. Auburn is #1 and will probably go at worst 11-1, and matched with their offers of early playing time it's an intriguing place for any prospect right now.

And with Calloway, I've always gotten the feeling that he would prefer playing tailback. I don't think it's a dealbreaker, mind you, but that's just my take. Combine that with his high school coach being an Auburn fan, and it's easy to see why he's still checking them out.

I'm not overwhelmingly concerned about it for now. It could happen, I suppose, but the reality of it is that any time you have a guy like Calloway, other schools are going to come after him hard and you're just going to have to fend off those attacks. We'll see, but I'm still confident he sticks.

If worst comes to worst, lets hope he remembers the Aubies questioning his talent when the initial Rivals rankings came out.

In the latest BOL article, Calloway sataed he was very proud to represent the University of Alabama in the U.S Army All-American game.
He also said he would play any position that the Bama staff would think was best for him. I for one am not worry about this young man's commitment..

:BigA:I know a sure fire way to have all our committments not visit anywhere else. Recruit no talent players that nobody else wants. We now go after the very best talent. Others trying to pick them off is understandable.
