I don't understand why we wouldn't have had a Saban disciple as a head coach after Saban. All these coaches get it, I don't hear the same stuff coming from Deboer.

Honest question and want honest opinions for answers: if we did hire a Saban disciple to follow him which would you suggest hiring and would they have come at that time (given the time frame of Saban's retirement and recruiting, etc).

Okay so just nuke the winning mentality of the program to make a point?
No, but you don't just assume a Saban disciple would come in and keep it going like Saban did, either. Like the other poster said about the after Coach Bryant era: we hired Bryant disciples and for the most part they just didn't work out. You can't just make the assumption that they will.

I think we just wanted to hire the guy who looked to have the most potential to keep things going and on paper KD seemed to fit that need.

Odds are always high though that the guy following a Legend fails to live up to that standard.

KD may or may not right the ship but If he doesn’t we at least need to look at guys who understand the SEC this time and demand more from themselves and the players.

IIRC, Saban favored KD to take the position...

I'd still want to sign Lanning...first choice. Key would now be 1B for me.

Cignetti has the right mentality as well, but he's getting up there in age isn't he? He may be a Florida candidate when they finally get rid of Napier.

I would not consider Kiffin a disciple just because he coached under Saban. Things didnt necessarily take with Judas even though he was in the circle of trust...

I didn't advocate for him. Just saying that he is a disciple that would have taken it if offered.

Smart wouldn’t and Lanning passed on it.

There are probably others.
