I agree totally. That may be but we're talking viable options. If you KNOW someone wouldn't get a call for a lot of reasons then he's not viable.
The discussion was about Saban Disciples and who would have taken the job if offered...

He coached and admittedly learned a lot from Saban, hence he is considered a "disciple"...I would not consider Kiffin a disciple just because he coached under Saban. Things didnt necessarily take with Judas even though he was in the circle of trust...
Yep, difference being there few of Bryant disciples that could replicateWe've had a few Bryant disciples...therein may lie your answer.
At the time I was rooting for Dion Sanders (lol my bad).I wasn't disappointed with hiring KD, I think we would be in a better position today if we were able to retain Ryan Grubb for last season.Honest question and want honest opinions for answers: if we did hire a Saban disciple to follow him which would you suggest hiring and would they have come at that time (given the time frame of Saban's retirement and recruiting, etc).
And hired G*lding...Kiffin hurt too many feelings.
Dion was on my list, too. I still have hope CKD will turn things around. At the time I was rooting for Dion Sanders (lol my bad).
You answered your own question. Can you guys give me a brief history lesson on why the Bryant Disciples never panned out? The way I see it, Bryant was the kind of coach that begot excellent players, but didn't produce the same caliber coaches to the same degree that Saban did.
Amen!... that Saban tree is powerful.
This really is not true. Perkins fits this description as a player, but never coached under him. Curry neither played nor coached under him. Stallings played and coached under Bryant but had success as HC. Dubious played for but never coached under Bryant, and no AD with a spine (i.e., one not named not Bob Bockrath) would have hired him to replace Stallings....we hired Bryant disciples and for the most part they just didn't work out....
Disciple is definitely not the right word for Kiffin...Kiffin would have practically crawled to Tuscaloosa...
So yeah, there are some out there that would have taken the job.
Probably because the insistence on hiring a Coach Bryant disciple led us to Perkins and DuBose.I don't understand why we wouldn't have had a Saban disciple as a head coach after Saban. All these coaches get it, I don't hear the same stuff coming from Deboer.
