I have seen a lot of these Brinks Home Security commercials, where some dude is breaking into a house, the alarm sounds, and then the Brinks guy at the control center calls the frightened woman and tells her that the cops are on the way etc. etc.

Every single time, without exception, the perpetrator of the crime is a white male between the ages of 25-40. Of course I noticed the white guy the first time I saw one of these commercials, but now I've seen I guess 5 different permutations of the commercial, and every single time.... it's still a white guy.

If Brinks used black guys as the perps every time, or Hispanic guys as the perps every time, we'd be hearing all about it. But now you're hearing all about it from me, 'cause I'm mad as heck and I'm posting on a message board about it.
 
I don't know. I think they're portraying the neighborhood in general as being predominately white, and the white guy was an accepted part of the community. Yet he fled when he heard the alarm. IMO that only shows that the burglar really wasn't a very determined person. They're probably also suggesting that a black or hispanic wouldn't have been scared off by such a little alarm. They'd have broken into the house, gathered all the valuables and been gone long before the cops ever got there.
The moral of that ad is make sure you live in a predominately white, middle or upper class, neighborhood-watch protected neighborhood before installing one of their security systems. Otherwise, you're wasting your money. :wink:
 
CUT IT OUT WITH THE RACIST CARD!!!!!:mad2: I've seen many more commercials with it the other way around though not nessesscery home invasion. This thread needs a lock!!!

The credit card fraud commercials have white guys stealing people's numbers. Whats with that? Why white? Why not an African Bushman? Bunch of racist bigots in the add industry, I'm telling you.
