Cal Player Fakes Injury Against Oregon

It is unsportsmanlike conduct, and the refs will assess a 15 yarder if it is discovered.
Isn't the term for it "delay of game?" Similar to when a player holds the ball longer than he should, or a defender does something to keep the clock running instead of allowing the offense to get set for the next play.

That was really bad acting. They need to look at Paul Pierce faking an injury. That is how it is supposed to be done.

I believe Tedford's claim is that it was a cramp and that those occur frequently in up-tempo games.

That was acting on par with day time soap operas.

This example seems pretty blatant, but how do refs really judge the difference between a player faking a cramp and one who isn't faking? Personally, I've had a calf muscle cramp up before VERY suddenly. One second I'm fine, the next second I'm in agony. I'm not saying that the Cal player really had a cramp or not, but if I'm the ref, I'd wonder how I'm supposed to know the difference.

I agree completely. That is something very hard to determine. Just interesting how he looked to the sideline and all of a sudden falls.

Well, we already have a replay official. Maybe we should have a polygraph official who runs on the field, hooks the player up, and say's "Are you faking"?
lol

Nah this is a tough call for officials because there's absolutely no way to know.

I like the N.F.L. rule where if the injury, faked or not, happens within the last two minutes of a half 30 seconds are taken off the game clock if the player in question is on the team that is behind.
