Charlie Strong already facing backlash

Q: Who didn't see this coming?
A: Folks who live outside of Texas...............maybe Oklahoma.

This standard operating procedure, at Bevo U.

And it has nothing to with race. It has to do with Texas being Texas. They think it should have been a name as big as all of Texas itself.

And someone the big cigars can slap on the back. Coach February, nice guy he may be, probably hung on longer because he had the support of that crowd. He played their game, and not talking about the one on the field. Anyone who won't play it is in for a rough ride.

It is going to be an interesting 3 years.

I agree, my friend. I doubt that Red considered race when he made that comment. He was hoping for a BIG name and does not feel Strong has paid his dues.

And yes, the big boosters DO expect to make input in operations.

I heard the interview this morning on my drive in. I really thought that I couldn't be surprised anymore by what goes on down there in Austin, but this just had me in disbelief. What is the point of going on air saying "look at me, I helped last time and had Gruden lined up, Strong isn't big enough name, etc. etc." There is nothing to gain by saying those things and only hurts your school.

Exactly..By saying this it only sets Strong up to fail, if he gets his big $$$$ donor buddies behind his way of thinking, all because their big money couldn't buy the best HC' s in college football or from the NFL..If Strong fails & sets their football program back even further than it is now..They deserve exactly what's coming their way..JMO

Yes they do deserve it. And you would think they would learn after all these years, but no they can't get past their own ego. The more I think about that interview, it just seems like Public Relations 101, when you hire someone new, you need to have their back at least until there is reason not to.

Strong is a good hire, he turned down tenrc last year they were lucky that timing worked out this year. But since their fan base spent a year with delusional hires in their mind they couldn't except not getting gruden or Saban or someone like that. Meanwhile Saban and gruden have been shooting down nfl jobs for years now. Why would they go to Texas?
