Here's a more zoomed in view of south of I-10 for Baldwin EMC service area:

Baldwin EMC press release on Saturday Morning (9/19):

As of 8:30 p.m., Baldwin EMC announced it has approximately 46,470 members experiencing power outages due to Hurricane Sally. Crews have restored power to approximately 31,000 meters since the restoration process began. Additionally, all 22 of Baldwin EMC’s substations are now energized.

Baldwin EMC employees, along with other lineworkers from 12 states, are working diligently to restore power as safely and quickly as possible. By tomorrow, we expect to have approximately 1,400 extra crew members here to help. Due to the widespread damage, the company does expect extended outages in some areas.

Baldwin EMC’s offices are closed until further notice as employees work to restore power.

OUTAGE REPORTING LINE: Baldwin EMC members who need to report an outage should call (251) 989-6247 or (800) 837-3374. Outages can also be reported by texting Outage to 85700. (Members who are not already subscribed to the co-op’s outage texting service can sign up by texting Baldwin to 85700.)

Riviera Utilities statement on Sunday 9/20

Over the past 48 hours our crews restored service to 19.6k customers. We still have a lot of work, as 21.8k remain without power. As the main lines are energized, we often pick up large numbers of customers. Things slow a little bit when we are working on individual taps and services. The historic levels of downed trees is a hinderance, but we will keep pushing to restore service.

We understand this is difficult, and we’re doing everything we can to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. Crews will continue their restoration efforts until all customers are restored. If you see lines that are on or near the ground please to do not go near them. If you have not already reported your outage, you can call 911 or 251-943-4999 in Foley and 251-625-4999 in Eastern Shore.

Thanks to our customers for your patience, and thank you to all of our employees for all of your hard work during the storm!

Wow! Glad you're ok (I hope) even if your house isn't!
Thanks BamaNation. Yes, my family is safe. I look all around me and see how we are truly blessed. A few feet one way or another, and it could have been so much worse. I was even able to go up into my attic to catch a lot of incoming water in big plastic tubs during the storm. I set up an igloo cooler with my garden hose attached to the drain plug, running through the attic entry, and out under my garage door...and kept pouring the collected water into it to run outside. Water damage was reduced by 95% because of this.

I build acoustic guitars for a living, and my 2-story shop sits beside my home. All of my exotic woods and equipment could have been lost if the huge pine trees on the west side would have fallen east...instead of south as they did. The chickens out in the coop even made it through, riding it out in the enclosed roost...though the poor girls looked like a wet mess the next morning.

The most surreal thing about this whole situation though, is that my wife and I had just finished building this house when Hurricane Ivan made landfall here...16 years ago...to the day.
We will celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary this Friday...and I am privileged to be performing my goddaughter’s wedding ceremony on Saturday...obviously though, I could have done without the recreation of the 16th hurricane anniversary.

We live on the east side of Fish River, and Highway 9 has power from one end to the other, from what I understand. My poles are up but the lines are cut and will have to be re-run. I hope to have electricity by the end of the week, but that's just my hope. My in-laws live just across Bonner's Branch from me, I mean I can see their house, and they have power because they ran the lines underground. Every time there is a big storm people talk about putting their powerlines underground and then no one does it. Well, I wish I had. :)

Very cool!!! I take it that you never caught the bug from him?
i am a pretty crappy craftsman, so i didn’t even think about trying. i got to play sawdust monkey on a couple of his builds when i was little. he did teach me to sing and play though. after he passed, i had a custom 12 fret slope shoulder built with wood from his shop. 9CEBFAB7-F3E5-4428-B974-B8DD622C2650.jpeg

That’s a beautiful guitar. How long ago did you have it built, and by whom? Is that a Sitka Spruce soundboard? What wood was used for the back and sides? Sorry for all the questions, but I’m a guitar nerd 😂

BamaNation...I’d like to thank you for your efforts to, not only give those of us who have been affected by the storm a voice...but also for bringing so much visual content about the storm to the forum.

I love this forum...and for you to offer this platform to share how this storm has affected my immediate family...with those of you who I’ve come to consider my extended family...has strangely made the struggle to recover easier...at least mentally.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart...and Roll Tide!!!

Received word tonight that a former high school classmate was helping to clear a tree from a roof over the weekend, fell through the roof and fractured several cervical vertebrae. His wife removed him from life support today. The aftermath can be almost as dangerous as the storm itself,

Thanks for that but like you, I, too, consider (almost) everyone here extended family. My in-laws are life-long Foley residents so I've spent a TON of time in Baldwin County over the last 30 years. They still don't have power as of yesterday and have 14 huge/old pine and pecan trees down at their house.

Their landscaping - which my M-I-L has spent years perfecting - is pretty much destroyed now. My F-I-L says this is the worst damage they have ever had in a hurricane. Fortunately, nothing hit the house so everything else is just a mess that needs cleaning up.

We were down there on July 4th for 2 weeks and spent time at Ft. Morgan, Orange Beach, Foley, Gulf Shores, etc. Since March shutdown, my teen daughter and I have wanted to get out of the house each day and go for long rides while listening to our favorite 70's & 80's classic rock and seeing places we've not seen around ATL.

We continued that in Foley this summer and drove all over Foley, Magnolia Springs, GS / OB to places I hadn't driven to/through before and through the GS parks. Sadly, I'm guessing most of those places look quite different now. :(

Backyard of my wife's parents house in Foley. You can see how close tree came to falling on the house because the picture is taken from their back sunroom area. Amazingly it did not hit the house. So many others are not so lucky.
