The Jim Henson company has their toys in Chik-Fil-A kids meals. There is a direct, financial impact.

That said, IMO, this is the RIGHT way to show how you disagree with another company's policies. No suing, no politician giving his two cents. One company giving their money to what they want, and another company stating that because of who they give it to they're withdrawing their support. It's Free Market in action.

I totally agree. Leave the government out of it. Don't like Christian beliefs? Then don't buy from businesses who hold their values. Don't like gay rights? Then don't buy from businesses who hold that belief. Quite simple.

I don't buy from Wal Mart (not because of gay rights and what not) because I think they suck. I refuse to give my money to a company who puts customer service as low on their priority list at they do.

The "Eat more chicken, don't eat da poo poo" campaign, while generally good advice IMO, is considered intollerant by some.

Playing off the "It's Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" theme, the slogan "It's Chik-Fil-A, not Adam fill Steve" campaign test marketed poorly.
