The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) announced today that the 68th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented by Advance Auto Parts scheduled for March 18-21 has been postponed due to the recent United States ban on travel from Europe, which will prevent a number of drivers, teams and key personnel from participation.
At this point I don't see how any sporting events in the country will continue.
This includes regular season college sports like baseball, soccer, softball, plus others.
Edit: it's already happened to our conference:
SEC suspends all athletic events until March 30
Did you read my post in the other thread? Two days ago, my secretary went to her neurologist for a visit. The neurologist is medical director for a nursing home with 150 residents and wanted a test for a highly suspicious case. When she contacted the health department they turned her down. They said they were "overwhelmed," "covered up." They've performed less than 50 damned tests, but they're "overwhelmed!" Now, do you know why we have "no cases?" Think! As one of 4 states remaining with no confirmed cases (yet), I can't help but think of that song Fins by Jimmy Buffett. "Can't you feel em circling, can't you feel em swimming around? you've got fins to the left, fins to the right, and you're the only bait in town".
To be fair, they literally have nothing to talk about anyway...What is ESPN, Fox Sports, NBC sports going to do for 24 hours a day? They literally have nothing to talk about after a day or 2.
Disney Land, too.Disney World closing through the end of the month, but they are paying all their employees. That's something.
To be fair, they literally have nothing to talk about anyway...
This really is surreal. No big softball weekend, beautiful weather this weekend in New Orleans and no St. Patty's parades, no March Madness to aggravate my wife because Young & Restless is pre-empted. Just crazy. As long as you are shutting everything down, shut down the stock market too so it can't go lower. This is just a crazy time. Hope all Tide Fans stay well thru this.
I was listening to 92.9 The Game on the way home. They only thing they were talking about was the fact that everything was shutdown. This talk prompted me to wonder what they would talk about tomorrow or the next day or the next or well you get the idea.I tuned in briefly today to maybe a half dozen sports programs and it seemed they were struggling to come up with anything of interest and/or something that hasn't already been said Ad infinitum , so I agree.
My guess is they'll just do it without the (smallish) crowd that's normally there. If the lingers around, what will happen with the NFL draft?
