recruiting in the state of alabama as well as the SEC and N.C., Texas and Virginia. As reported in the B'ham sports section today he is pulling all the stops out and waging all out war on recruiting. Where are all the recruiters coming from? I'm getting worried. NOT.

He saying whatever dye tells him to say...Everyone recruits everywhere...Problem is, when he goes to the bathroom Saban is knocking on someones door...k

I'm sure Alabama fans everywhere are quaking in their boots now.... :PDT_Armataz_02_43:

I've never seen a fanbase could a complete 180 on a coaching hire like this. They were convinced they were doomed just over a month ago, and for some reason the signing of DeAngelo Benton convinced them that they'll have a number one class in 2010. There are even Barners on some message boards betting that they will. Last I checked they're still selling 5-19, while Alabama is selling, well Alabama.

5-19????? no comprende

5-19????? no comprende

As in Chizik's career record as a head coach. He's selling promise, while Coach Saban is selling a proven commodity that's been proven time and again. Frankly, I'm not even sure why Alabama fans even get worked up over this. We've got two straight number one classes. I guess its just the rivalry.

Now I comprende. When I read the article I thought it was stupid. Au can only have a limited amount of coaches, same as any other D-1 college. Like every other SEC team is not going to be wide open with recruiting. DUH!

We're already locked out of Tennessee. NOW we're getting run out of the state of Alabama. In two years we won't have enough walk-ons to even field a team.

Vince says....Hey Cheezy, the University of Alabama sells itself, it's that good. Now take this roll of crying towels, you'll need them. Seriously, take them, I can't do this all day.

Roll Tide

Chester Cheezy and foot in the mouth Kiffin have brought the SEC down a notch with their stupidity. What a shame they hired these two clowns because we used to have the best coaches in the country from top to bottom.

Cheezy is just selling what the fans want to hear but the hard facts are he will not beat Saban in recruiting and I doubt he beats but a few on his schedule and by 2010 rolls around he probably won't even be at the barn~!~

it stinks that we dont have that many scholarships this year
so chizik will actually get more in state players
but not the ones we really want

Cheezestick better hope they can recruit some offensive linemen. In the last two years they have only brought in two offensive linemen, and both of them came from this past recruiting class. Malzahn may be a good OC, but he don't have a magic wand. Their QB is going to be pretty bruised this season.

I will begin to worry about Auburn's recruiting efforts when they can compete with Kiffin at UT, Petrino at Arky, and Nutt at Ole Miss. Until then, I hope he keeps talking because reading the antics sure does pass the time.

Can't blame the guy for trying to excite a fanbase that doesn't have much to cheer for right now other than hope. He will probably do ok in the state but he is not locking anything down, not even his footlocker. I expect CNS to get whomever he wants in the 2010 class out of Alabama.

I'm 49 and Auburn has been irrelevant my entire life. I don't expect that to change before I die. I don't think anything Chizik does will change that. At least, it doesn't look that way. And, I expect to live a LONG TIME.

All I'm concerned with is Alabama's sports programs and the continuation of THE TRADITION at The Capstone. :eek2:

Regardless of a half-way decent staff, reeling in (as well as lifting up the ranking) an 18th ranked recruiting class makes you wonder how an unheard of 5-19 coach does it...

Well when you sign highly rated guys who will not make it no matter what it all works out in the end because they will never step foot on campus. That QB they signed will never make it in the SEC and probably not a Div I college not for lack of talent either....... Wait till their actual recruits get on campus and they might be in the top 40 if they are lucky~!!~

Eight from Auburn University to recruit in Alabama
Chizik said Monday the Tigers are behind in recruiting for 2010 because the new staff got off to such a late start for 2009. Chizik, hired Dec. 13, didn't hire his last two assistants until Sunday.

Luper's plans are ambitious. The tentative plans call for seven coaches to recruit Alabama, five coaches to recruit Georgia, and four to recruit Florida. Of course, coaches will have more than one area, especially since colleges have only nine assistants.
