Coach Bryant question for the forum

I agree, you can learn more in threads like this than from reading biographies. As a man in my mid 30's I can only imagine what it must have been like to have been on campus during the Bryant era. Some of these stories actually bring out just a bit of jealousy in me that you enjoyed what was one of the greatest times to be at The University. I was fortunate enough to be at the Capstone during the Stallings year and feel bad for those who have attended in the last 10 years, not knowing "that feeling".

BTW Earle I hope you know those remarks were all in fun and I have the upmost respect for you and all of my elders.

I'm jealous of a whole lot of folks on this board. I'm only in my early 20's and just spent my 4 years at UA to watch Shula and his crew. I was lucky enough to get to watch the National Title game when I was really young, it was one of the first times I got to stay up late at my grandparents house because my parents were in NOLA that night. I really love threads like this. Thanks guys and Roll Tide.

Coach Hank lost that hand really young. I want to say 12 or 13, and it was a farm accident - one of the most dangerous professions. And it was a great time to be a Bama fan. I'd gone to Bama for C&BA, not for FB, since we'd only won 1 or 2 games in the three years or so leading up to 1958. Coach Bryant returning was a wonderful surprise...

Like other posters before me, I want to thank you guys for the great insight to my original question. Forgot who posted the link, but thanks, it was good reading.

You guys keep the season going, hopefully LSU will get back on track this evening and then we can meet in November to determine the SEC West Champion.
