"However, Smith is particularly close to UGA recruiting coordinator Rodney Garner, who is talking to Tennessee about a position on its coaching staff. Smith confirmed to the AJC on Saturday night that he had heard about Tennessee’s flirtation with Garner, but said he needed to learn more before commenting."
According to Scout.com recruiting analyst Chad Simmons, he spoke with Smith late last night, and he said that
if Garner left, it would not change anything for him.
I hope it does hurt UGA's chances with him, mind you, because many feel we are his second choice, but I just don't think it will happen.
Still, though, this is UGA's recruiting coordinator we are talking about here, potentially leaving for another SEC East powerhouse program. Any time that happens, it has to hurt recruiting, no two ways about it. Hopefully this will help swing Massie in our direction. I don't think it will hurt them too much with him just because of Searels staying at UGA, but it sure as heck doesn't do anything to help him.
