Apparently there is a new Sheriff in town and his name is Saban. The players have been reporting Coach Saban demanding excellence on every play. No kidding!!

Wallace Gilberry after practice stated "I have never been in such good shape prior to Spring Practice."

Amazing how being fit reduces injuries. I am more than impressed with Coach Saban. That is an understatement. BAD habits are now leaving the field. :BigA:

What's great is that the players seem to really like it. I think they've figured out that if they're going to spend all this time on football, they may as well get REALLY good at it. People usually appreciate strong leadership because it benefits everybody.

I summed up the hiring of CNS as "the right man at the right time". After being "so close" the last four years, it seems the players are hungry and CNS is showing them the way to the table.

"He's the type of coach a lot of players grew up with, the type of coach who is always in your (face)," Brown said. "No surprises, man. It's everything we expected."

I am glad KB said that. I get tired of people saying "he is a player's coach" and then follow it up by saying the coach "relates" to the players or is more like a friend. Coaches aren't friends. They are there to HELP teach you how to be a man 1st & about being a better athlete after that.
I guess I kinda got tired of seeing a certain coach "avoid" or ignore players when they did STUPID things on the field instead of chewing their rear-end:mad:
I'm just glad somebody is making them be ACCOUNTABLE for their actions. I dare anybody to tell me CNS hasn't made a difference already. The players are basically telling you they like it better because they know they are going to be a better team w/ CNS.

You have to know that the players got tired of getting whiped in the fourth quarter of their games....got tired of the other SEC schools putting a W next to Bama on their scheduals .... tired of walking off the field at Bryant Denny with a loss. They have to be as happy as all of us fans are that Coach Saban is in charge

Nice link. Glad to see out with the old and in with the new. It annoyed me so much last season to see Bama run out of gas in the 4th qtr. I can't wait until the 4th qtr this season. We will see different results.

Right on there. In high school there was a guy on our team who came back to summer workouts from a vacation with a tongue ring. Coach sent him straight to the field house in the middle of stretches to take it out and not come back til he did and our position coach went with him to see if he needed 'help' taking it out. lol I dont think we dealt with that one again during my time.

It's just a shame that some players had to have their college careers diminished by a lack of preparation and coaching.

It is apparent the right man is at the Capstone. I read where ACJ conducted a poll last month and the question was:

Q. Will Coach Nick Saban turn the Tide?

YES 86 percent
NO 10 percent
did not know 4 percent

:BigA:

What does that have to do with this topic? I read the message boards and somehow those percentages would be reversed! There are honest people who do not frequent the sports boards.

As a coach, treating kids like they are your friend only hampers their development as men & athletes. I am all for a coach who is man enough to tell you you are doing something wrong & then "helping" you fix the problem.

Quick story: My college baseball coach required us to shave everyday & if you came to practice with long facial hair, you had the pleasure of going in the bathroom at the fieldhouse w/ a disposable razor & nothing but water to lather up w/. If anybody ever did it, nobody else on the team did it the rest of the year.

Aren't you glad Earle helped you out of that former screen-name ?:cool2:
