Howard Schnellenberger...first one I thought of.

Any more besides the obvious Dubose, Shula, Franchione, Price?

Give it up man. We don't need to go down that road. We just need to win, and win now!!!

No, I do not want one. I was just curious. I just wondered if any of those guys are still out there. I would think that Bryant disciples would be on up in years now.
The only hire I will be satisfied with is Spurrier. All others will be a disappointment. No Kidding.

Isn't he currently the coach at Florida Atlantic?

Yeah sorry I missed the boat on that.
I knew he had a role at FAU, but when I was looking at his bio, I saw he had been named director of football operations. I missed that he became head coach when they actually formed a team.

Coaches that I can think of (off the top of my head) with Bama ties (played or coached) that may meet some of the qualifications for the top job in Alabama (in no particular order):

Howard Schnellenberger
Sylvester Croom
Mike Riley
Richard Williamson
David Cutcliffe
Joe Kines
Carl Torbush
Neil Callaway
Ellis Johnson
Sparky Woods
Dave Rader

There may be a couple that I'm missing; but it's fairly obvious -- the cupboard's dry when it comes to finding a HC with ties to the school. I don't think any of these guys could take Bama to where it needs and wants to be.
