Duke hires former Miami HC Manny Diaz.

On a local note, Tulane is targeting the Troy coach.

According to the local news in Montgomery, Sumrall has indeed left Troy for Tulane. A bit surprising; it's probably a step up, but not a big step.

There must be a scandal brewing.....

Sources -- New Mexico St. head coach Jerry Kill stepping down - ESPN

A month ago, he's leading NMSU over Auburn at JHS, now he's gone.
@selmaborntidefan I don’t know if you caught his rant after the New Mexico Bowl. I won’t post a link because of profanity.

The bowl game was held on the campus of their biggest rival, New Mexico. There was some head butting (which Kill refers to in his rant) between him and the NM AD.

This incident seemed to spearhead the head butting. A pretty stupid move on the part of Diego Pavia.

It could be NMSU administration may have disciplined/fined him for his comments and he said “adios”? He had already missed some time early in the season for health issues. I can see Kill saying, “I don’t need this” and walking away.

Could be a scandal. But given his history, my money would be on Kill’s health problems.

It’s hard to believe that an NMSU player peeing on the UNM practice field would cause Kill to resign.

I read Kill’s post-New Mexico Bowl rant, and while the profanity is definitely out of bounds for TF, I didn’t think it rose to the level of a personnel decision.

Still, his repeated declarations of having class were interesting. True class is self-evident. There is no need to publicly claim it, and people who really do have class don’t typically say that they do.

So claiming class while characterizing a professional peer’s conduct in decidedly non-TF language strikes me as a contradiction in terms. At best.

Maybe whatever has caused the seizures in the past is also causing some emotional instability, and that led to his resignation? I definitely don’t know, but that’s the simplest solution I can come up with.

At least he gave us all one good laugh by beating Auburn before he left.

Kill was a highly emotional guy even before the battle with brain cancer at Minnesota. There were some things in that post game rant by Kill that just seemed “off”, even for a highly charged Kill.
The “going to Mexico and drinking margaritas” thing was really weird. It almost came across (at least to me) like he was saying to NMSU administration “back me up on this or I’m done”.
I could be completely wrong and reading way too much into it.

The timing seems odd. Everyone else has made their hire and he quits and hands the reigns to a guy who went 20-40 at UNLV.
