I think he needs to rebuild his reputation for a bit 1st.

Smaller west coast schools might give him a look but I get the impression he wants a Higher profile gig.

His peak so far was ‘22 and ‘23 when Washington had a #7 and number #13 ranked Offense.

This year we are around 35th and can’t run the ball.

Every game we go through periods of BoB level stuff where we seemingly run when we should pass and pass when we should run.

We get behind the chains way too often off negative plays where we should be trying to just convert and move the chains.

We need aggressive 4th down trickery to convert and sometimes because we used unnecessary trickery on 1st down to put us in that bind.

I think there really is a potentially very good OC in him if he’d tweak some things and change tendencies a bit.

But imo it would be a big gamble for a even a Mid level P4 team to offer him a HC gig.

If he can create a Top 5 Offense that wins some Hardware he’d reach a new high and would likely get a lot better interest and/or Offers.

It's gotten messier.

The article quoted above says Woodward will probably choose the new coach. Based on subsequent new information, it doesn't look like that'll be the case. At a press conference today, Landry said the following:

"No. I can tell you right now, Scott Woodward is not selecting the next coach," he said in response to a question at a press conference. "Hell, I'll let Donald Trump select him before I let him do it."

Several other credible outlets are reporting the same thing with the same quote.

That pretty much says Woodward not only won't choose the next coach, he'll be out the door as soon as they can get the paperwork done. At best, he's a dead man walking.

Here's the deal: LSU doesn't have a permanent president, only an interim. As it's been explained to me, Landry is the ex officio CEO pending hiring of a new permanent president.

The Governor weighed in late Saturday night after the home field beatdown from aTm -- don't think he might have had a sip or two, do you? The next day, a bunch of donors met at the Governor's Mansion and fired Kelly, apparently after he (Kelly) and Woodward had "contentious" meetings earlier Sunday. The NOLA article specifically says that Woodward wasn't in several of the meetings.

Then the Governor publicly says that there's no way in 10,000 universes that Woodward will have anything to do with hiring the new coach.

This is more messed up and self-destructive than machinations at the barn. I mean, what coach in his right mind would walk into that den of cobras?

Whoever the poor schmoo is, he'll go into the job knowing:
-- His real boss is a Trump wannabe political hack with Trumpian HR practices.
-- His AD (whether it's Woodward or someone else) won't have had anything to do with his hiring, and
-- His college president will have almost no time in the chair and also had little to nothing to do with his hiring.

This comes under the heading of, "You can't make this stuff up."

you pretty much nailed it and That's why Saban said today that Kiffin might have better job at Ole miss than LSU and Florida....

I think we might have the Seahawks helping us not to lose Grubb this year.
When his contract was announced (only 1 mil / year for 2 years, which is low), it was mentioned that he is still receiving money from the Seahawks.
I do think that we might lose him after the next season.

There is also another reason go look at both Florida and lsu’s future schedule. In this 9 game schedule. Every team plays everyone in this two year span. There is an even year schedule of teams and an odd schedule of teams.

Ole Miss plays UGA next yeah So this means they will never play Alabama and uga in the same year. They also don’t play a surging A&M team every year. Florida has to play Alabama and Georgia every other year (uga every year).

LSU has to play A&M as a permanent opponent. Oh and the years that they play @auburn they get bama in Death Valley where they lose 95 percent of the time and Tennessee in Knoxville. Oh any year they play Georgia they also have to play at Kyle field.

Probably better to stay at ole Miss where 10-2 is most likely can get you into playoffs.

Since Grubb is a west coast guy, the Oregon State job is already open. Of course Oregon State would be pretty much like taking the Miss State job, career killer. Stanford is or will be open.

I think OSU would be worse than MSU. It’s not in a conference for football right now, and will likely be in a G5 conference shortly. Who knows about basketball, and the non-revenue sports are a total question. Not the place I’d want to be.

Stanford’s kind of a different animal. In the ACC, but probably can’t consistently compete there in football or basketball. All other sports, yes. And as snotty as the ACC schools are about their academics (lookin’ at you, UVA, UNC, Duke and GT), Stanford leaves all of them in their backwash.

Stanford would take consistent 7-5, with occasional noise for the ACCCG, and equally occasional 4-8 / 5-7 seasons pretty much forever. Yes, it has limitations as regards winning conference championships. But it also has appeal for job security, weather, coaching with smart kids, etc.

Grubb is a west coast guy and we’ll be lucky to have him in Tuscaloosa for the 2026 season. I could easily see a good mutual fit in Palo Alto, championship limitations acknowledged.

One of the primary reasons Saban was successful for us that doesn't get enough press... He cut the boosters out. They played a major role in running Stallings off and then wrought havoc during the decade of the three Mikes and Franny.

Texas, LSU, and Florida are all there own worst enemies due to this. Not sure how much TAMU has to deal with it.
