Coaching carousel 2025-26

I think Lane is who he is and Ole Miss isn't as flashy of a place for him to leave a "legacy". LSU will find that out when he jumps to the NFL in a couple of years. Heck he might be angling for heading to NOLA with the Saints.
All LSU fans are Saints fans (but not all Saints fans are LSU fans). If he spurns LSU to sign with the Saints, the whole state would come unglued.

Apparently Sabans advice to him was he could get better players at LSU. Which I disagree in this day and age of NIL and portal. Ole Miss has same re ruining pull as anyone in the SEC.

Agreed, times have changed and even though LSU is more of a football factory state NIL mitigates a lot of that.

All I know is that whatever resepct I had for LSU and Lane Kiffin is gone because of this situation. I hope that if/when Lane Kiffin goes to LSU, they suffer through years of 8 and 4 seasons and no sniffing of the playoffs.

As for the Auburn hire, I'll wait and see if that is a good hire.
“Respect for LSU and Lane Kiffin”

I’m sorry…WHAT?

I can definitely see Golding taking over as interim at OM. His defense has been pretty darn good over there. Golding just wasn't very good at coordinating Saban's defense. Not sure he ever truly believed in it. He's done quite well since getting back to 'his' defense at OM. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets the gig full time.

It’s being reported by ON3 now that Lane is giving an ultimatum to his Offensive staff that if they aren’t on the 2nd Plane to BR today they won’t have jobs there after the season.

He’s being introduced as LSU’s new HC tomorrow.

He’s also encouraging OM players to opt out of the CFBP

He is a villainous piece of excrement.

I mean just knifing the entire program in the back and holding his staff’s feet over hot coals.

He doesn’t care about anyone but himself.

He’s becoming CFB’s #1 Bad guy in real time.

Lane is burning the bridge, but Ole Miss is thinking small and looking small time by handling it this way too. Let the guy coach, try to have as good a season as you can. Possibly the best season of your history, and keep some good will with your players, fans and appear as a confident program that supports it's coaches and look more desirable to a new coach.

It's already appearing to many that they clearly didn't choose to put up the money for players, which is dumb.

On the other hand. Lane has destroyed his rebuilt reputation with his pettiness. I also truly believe he could've messed up a good thing he currently has going in Ole Miss and he may not be able to get it going in LSU, as Brian Kelly couldn't after being a top 5 coach with better resume than lane Kiffin

I'm just more focused on Ole Miss, because I actually think they have more to lose. Lane already has what he wants.

Dirtball, 100% scum bucket. I hope the players "rebel" against him.

The barnies are pretty divided over this hire, but I honestly don’t know why. This is the best possible outcome they could have asked for given who they were competing with for a new coach.

I’m only seeing where they are ecstatic and maybe moreso relieved they didn’t completely botch it.

They almost had Sumrall but Florida dropped Lane and got him….

Then they were going to have to settle on Durkin but Arky didn’t seal the deal with Golesh and they swooped in a got him by taking a wild last minute swing.

Arky is the real loser since now they have Memphis’s HC as a consolation.

I feel terrible for OM.

They have been strung along and just backstabbed and now there isn’t really anyone they can go after.

but he has matured, Alabama is his dream job and he wouldn’t do that to us.

when kiffin doesn't win a title in 3 years, he will be fired and get a huge buyout. It is smart really.
The giant buyout money won’t be there. The guvnuh fired the AD because he had been the author of the two largest buyouts in history. It won’t be small by any means but it won’t be crazy money.

How many coaches and maybe even players can they lose and still be considered for the playoffs?
