Coaching carousel 2025-26

The schedule isn't terrible, although I agree 10-2 would probably be seen as successful when all is said and done.

What is Florida State going to be? It sure looked like we completely misjudged them going into this season, and they were going to be a contender. It turns out they were who we thought they would be, we just gagged that game like a cat choking on a hairball. At least next year we get them in Bryant-Denny, and it is the 3rd game of the year. This is huge. We get East Carolina and at Kentucky to start off with and can get some of the wrinkles ironed out before FSU comes to town.

The SEC schedule is what it is every year now. We play our 3 permanent games then half the remaining one year, the other half the next. Not much we can hope for there unless the SEC goes back to 8 games.
Agree. We get a smooth takeoff for the season. @KY shouldn't prove to be a problem with their struggles and coaching changes.

The 3 week stretch before the off day will be the "key stretch," then LSU after it. If we could manage 3-1 in those 4 games, we may get through the regular season with only 1 loss.

I was surprised to see Georgia on there again. I thought it would be UF rotating on???

It seems the SEC can't get enough of this "rivalry." But they rotate off in 2027, back on in 2028.

I agreed w/Smart's assessment when he was asked about the 9-game schedule after the SECCG. It's going to be a challenge for any serious contender for the SECC. Alabama and UGA were hurting a bit going into their 9th SEC game and having 2 legitimate byes; what is it going to look like when the whole conference plays 9 games and only has 1 bye to rest up? We might see much more playing the backups and beyond when any game gets to a comfortable distance b/w the competing teams.

It was different before he went on to ESPN. I listened for years during the 90s, every afternoon after school especially during football season. Remember those were the DuBose years/Tater Tot/Tubby. The comedy from those years (sometimes dark as an Alabama fan) will never be replicated.

I honestly thought his callers were fake. I did know a radio dj act that used this practice. They would have interns or the producer use a different voice and call in to get people stirred up. Trolling before trolling was cool. I assumed finebaum was using this tactic. but later learned these are actual humans.

I had a Uncle who would call in and I assure you he was a weirdo in real life too.

What I don’t like, unless I missed something, is the total silence from our side on this. Why not come out and say, like w/PSU, I’m not interested in that
(dumpster fire) job?
He did not come out immediately last time with the state penn declaration. Things are exacerbated now because the season is over and news cycle keeps echoing. I think we will here from him soon, maybe by next week. We need that guy prepping for a game after all...not worried about a bunch of fake news from pin head pendants in the media.

I totally get that…but the narrative is that if we lose to OU again, he’s gone…why not refute that immediately? (If that’s a rumor and gets removed I understand.)

There's not much benefit to saying something unless he is asked. It doesn't matter what he says. Even if he comes out and shuts it down today, then they're just gonna say "oh what do you want expect him to say while his team is still playing?"I suspect someone will ask him at some point, but until then I don't see it being addressed unless he gets extended before the playoff.

Like I said, he is preparing to win this game. Everything else is noise. The stupid media is making the narrative so why even give it consideration if it is a bunch of garbage, which it probably is. If DeBoer wants to go that crap hole then let him go but no need for any hand wringing about it now by us fans. Could be Coach is looking to cash in at the capstone by letting the media narrative swirl. Who knows.

Given the track record of his agent, why are we expecting CKD to be different from the rest of his clients?

From my memory, DeBoer's PSU denial is one of the rare cases when it did not accompany a raise/extension

I'm pretty sure, "Let them think you could be interested even when you're not interested" is a pillar for any representation agency, much less Sexton
