Coaching carousel 2025-26

He's a little old. Not too old to be considered but he is 66. I'm sure that plays a factor in these things. But he's a solid coach. Curious what he might do there.

I honestly think they're worse
He's a good five year stop gap that will keep the program competitive and relevant until they can fund a younger version of him. They could have hired a WHOLE LOT worse.

My guess is that this move was in the works for 2 weeks. Sherrone Moore got arrested on Dec. 10 and Whittingham announced he was stepping down from Utah two days later on Dec. 12. That turned out to be no coincidence.

It’s actually a total coincidence…he was not on their radar until very recently…he got squeezed out by private equity @ Utah. He wasn’t happy about it either, but it had zero to do with Michigan.

Michigan may be the weirdest fanbase Ive ever been around. They are by far the most arrogant and At the same time most insecure fans in football. They are also among the dumbest fanbases that I’ve been around which is ironic because they never can wait to tell you how much smarter they are than you and how you are from a backwatered state and school at every chance they get. I’ve seriously seen a Michigan fan go from talking smack before kickoff to talking about how his ancestors fought on the right side of the civil war, how academically prestigious Michigan is compared to the South, and how Michigan women are too high class for us southern types who are doomed to heart disease and poverty. This is far too common of an occurrence in my experience.

And don’t let any of them over 35 claim tom Brady. They all thought he was a bum stealing reps from Henson and tried to run him out of town. They forced Carr to split their time and it costed them a national championship shot.

Not comparing resumes. The vibes of their Bama tenure seem similar and how they manage their program
I think I understand what you are saying, something like, “they take a softer approach in their dealings with coaches and especially the players”. I agree but with a great difference. I always felt that Curry was a bit of a fraud in his “care” for the players and his approach to coaching in general. IMO, he envisioned an ideal and acted to fulfill it rather than being who he was. In the 60s’ & 70s’ vernacular he would be referred to as a “plastic man “.

People, including players, see through that fairly quickly, thus the massive difference between the two and their records.

Obviously, I’m doing some guessing since I’ve not been in any gatherings with either but that’s how it appears from afar.

No. No they aren't. TU fans are much, much, much worse.

Texas just thinks their money means they own the world. Michigan believes a degree with UM on it means they are superior than you.

Both are annoying its just a choice if you like southern condescending remarks or arrogant Yankee putdowns.
