Thanks to everyone who has provided me great humor today!
Whenever I hear disparaging comments about the South, Alabama Football, or anything southern-men included!-I am reminded of this quip by Joe Willie given to a reporter who asked him if he majored in basketweaving @ Alabama:
No, man, I majored in journalism. Is was easier."
LOL :BigA:
I was just watching 1st and 10 on ESPN, and i cannot believe what they just said. They were talking about Miami interviewing Shula. The guest analyst opposite Skip Bayless said, "I know their math skills in the Deep South aren't that good, but even they can figure out that 26-23 won't cut it."
Can you BELIEVE this garbage? How could any self-respecting news organization air this trash? How is stereotyping a faction of this country any different than being racist? They wouldn't allow racist comments on their network, and it offends me deeply that they would air this.
I wonder if he realized that Skip graduated from Vandy. I'm sure Skip didn't take kindly to that.
I proudly extend the finger to ESPN and all its producers. You guys can take your self-righteous manure elsewhere.
I will now take my "sub-par math skills" and do my calculus III homework.
Secondly, it urks me that you try to make this into a political conservatives vs. liberals/"us vs. them" battle. You are too quick to assume that everyone on here, 99% of whom are southern born and raised, automatically share your same social/political views just because we're Alabamians. I am proud of my southern heritage and am a proud UA alumus and Tidefans member. However, I consider myself "liberal" by most people's definition, and I couldn't be more proud of that fact. It just seems that everytime I turn around on here someone is making snide comments about 'them darn liberals' as if everyone on here should share their same social/political views, and if they don't then they don't deserve your respect anyway.
I would suggest leaving the 'liberal' talk on the non-sports board. So ALL us die hard Bama fans can enjoy the FOOTBALL boad.

How other the way would you classify the PC movement as not being "liberal"? I have not heard of nor do I know anyone who is classified "conservative" that is part of or even agrees with the PC crowd.
Calling the PC crowd "liberal" is a fair description. I'm sorry if you do not like that title, but it is the truth.
He was referring to a football subject when he made the comment and does not appear to be picking a political fight, just making an observation.
...But that is what the "main stream" PC movement is all about... When one gets offended, it is time to cut it out..
The person who said that about the South could very well have been a conservative...that's my point. I know many Republican conservatives that I work with in Chicago (believe it or not) that think of the South the same way. So no, it's not a liberal/conservative argument.
