The level of speculation among you guys is ... breathtaking!
🤪
Not really much speculation at this point. It is pretty well known that many in the Seahawks organization weren’t happy with overall offensive production this year under Grubb. Primarily they don’t feel there was good balance in run/pass. How much of that can be laid at the feet of Grubb is the question. Lot of factors played into that. Most feel Grubb will be shown the door after the game tomorrow.

It is also pretty well known Grubb chose to stay at Washington when Saban offered him, then returned to take the Seattle job because his wife wanted to remain in the Pacific Northwest.

IF Grubb does become available, you can almost surely bet the decision will be heavy influenced by family if he is offered.

I think Xs and Os, Shula was fine.
Leadership, however, leading a large organization with dozens to hundreds of employees, setting direction, establishing priorities, and creating organizational culture, that is something else....
You have "hit the nail on the head."

After 29 years as a leadership and management consultant, I will tell y'all between 80 and 85 percent of the time a small or medium-sized business was struggling the root cause was the Top Guy or Gal. And almost 100% of THOSE times, the Boss *knew* he/she was the problem ... and was afraid someone would find them out.

They'd spend *years* faking it, and fearing exposure.

Pretty interesting reading through/listen to some of the Seahawk talking head sites. The consensus opinion is that Schneider (GM) will move on from Grubb. Most think it due to the impression that the “learning curve” from college to pro was a little too much for Grubb. The other issue is that Schneider is on a seat that is getting “warm”. Ownership expected, with changes he and Mcdonald (HC) made this year, the playoffs should have been the lowest bar. Grubb could be somewhat of a scapegoat.

The other thing is that many seem to be giving Scott Huff, the oline coach and long time colleague of Grubb, a “pass”. Most think he did a decent job considering the overall lack of talent he had to work with. I don’t see much of a clamor to push Huff out.

Couple of things standout to me. So Grubb will get axed because of lack of production/balance yet your o-line is mostly garbage? I think we as Bama fans can attest to the difficulty in developing a consistent offense when struggling on the Oline. The other question is will Huff leave as well if, as most expect, Grubb is terminated?

Waiting on a coach that might could maybe be fired is a terrible idea unless he said he is taking the job once the NFL season is over. I hope that is not what he is waiting on to make any offensive coaching changes and if he is and gets burned with his staff then he loses the fans just little more (which fans are bipolar anyway lol) but got to think admin would be watching more closely.

BUT all of it is just fan speculation and really doesn’t matter at this point.

Not many years ago I was working with a physician out on the west coast. He was born in New Mexico but spent most of his life in California. He also happened to be gay.

I was at dinner with him and partner, Randy. Over conversations at dinner, Randy asked me “So where are you from?” My response “Alabama, more specifically Birmingham”.
Randy responded “no originally…”
“Birmingham born and raised…”

Randy states “I find that surprising. You seem much too ENLIGHTENED to be from Alabama…”

I paused for a moment said “Randy..you would probably also be surprised to find most folks in Alabama stopped “biting the heads off chickens and marrying their cousins several generations ago”

Not being able to leave it alone I chuckled and said “And I guess you gave up on the dream of moving up north to San Francisco and becoming the next great Liza Minnelli impersonator?”

After an awkward pause, we all started laughing. Randy said “Touche’…I deserved that”.

No harm. No foul.

People sometimes develop ideas and notions about other people and other places because it gives them the only way they can comfortably “process it”. Doesn’t necessarily have to be correct, as long as it gives them some “comfort”.

I know I’m not immune to it. I probably have a lot of preconceived ideas and notions that, if I explored deeper, are probably wrong.
I've had slightly different versions of that Alabama conversation my entire professional career to the point I've kinda made it my thing. Yep, I'm from rural Alabama, a place you likely can't find on a map, and our house was 7 miles from the nearest traffic signal, and it was just a flashing yellow light at a 3 way stop. The preconceived notions some folks have about Alabama and the South are pretty ingrained so when they find out that I am that, in some cases you can literally see their minds churning with how to reconcile their stereotypes.

I had a UGA fan discuss a variation of the talk once with me.........His argument was that Alabama has never contributed much of anything to the world, and I told him they built the rockets that put men on the moon, and produced many film and music stars and had the greatest two coaches to ever coach football............and Georgia produced more poultry than peaches, and gave America Honey Boo Boo and Carter...........he said "I see your point, and I aint proud of it"
