I think it will be Bama-FSU for the championship. All FSU really has left on their schedule is Va. Tech in Blacksburg and Florida in Tallahassee.

Long way to go yet, but UTx looks like they're lurching toward a more SEC-type team. They're big and fast on the defensive front and finally have a power ground game again. With that said, Mack wouldn't be happy about running into Bama in the NC again..

I really don't see how anyone could pick Arkansas to beat any team at this point. Come on, guys...what evidence to you have to say that they'll "bounce back?" Auburn hung with LSU. Sure, I don't think LSU is as good as they've been hyped, but they have infinitely more talent than Arky.

I'll change my stance if they change coaches, but the Arkansas team is making Dubose's 2000 team look like a well-oiled machine.

.

really?? that SEC type defense gave up 31 points to the Black Bears. please forgive me for not sharing your sentiments.

so far they have played these powerhouses: Wyoming, New Mexico, Ole Miss. their 1st real challenge will come on Oct. 6 when West Virginia comes to town. if they can contain that offense, I might change my tune.

I feel generous this morning so I am giving Arkansas a W against Tulsa and Kentucky. 3-9 by last count does not qualify for a bowl game. I am giving au a W against Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Ole Sis, Alabama A&M and NM State that is 6-6 unless they slip up and lose to OleSis.

Texas wasn't even on my radar. They still have to play West Virginia, Oklahoma and Kansas State. I don't see them winning all 3 of those games.

IMO, Oregon is the best team next to Alabama.

Don't forget that Baylor and Oklahoma State have both beat Texas for the last two years. The Horns have a bit of work to do in their back yard before the plan for a title game. I certainly get tired of the football press trying to make a team out to be something every year just because they have had success in the past. USC is a prime example.

Why am I not surprised you mentioned Baylor?

Oregon doesn't have nearly the size that we do, but they have a ton of speed - could make things difficult for the right opponent. We'd beat them, but they could make it difficult.

Couldn't agree more. Texas could go 8-4 with that schedule. The media sometimes hypes up teams they like instead of teams that are actually capable of winning big.

I would LOVE to see the Ducks vs. the Crimson Tide in the NC.

I think it would be a heck of a game!

I don't really see any other legitimate contenders at this point.

It's still early......a lot of season left..."anything" can...and will...happen!

I think Auburn played one of the best games that they'll have all year against LSU (unless you count that amazing OT win against ULM). I truly think LSU was just having a rough day during that game (similar to us in 2009 vs UT and AU). Honestly, I believe that Arky vs AU will be a toss-up game for either team, but I think Arky takes it home that day in a nail biter. Arky doesn't have to be the best team in the country to win that game...they just have to play better that day, and I think they will. Notice how many times I said "I think", which means I could also be very wrong, but I guess we'll see in 2 weeks.
