Concealed carry at church

I can not imagine feeling like I need a gun with me to leave my house. I’m so glad I personally don’t have that mindset.

My temper can sometimes run hot, if it was my habit to carry a gun I’m sure I would have gotten myself in trouble carrying it.

That 'mindset' probably depends largely on where you live.

I happen to live in the metro area of one of the most violent cities in the US.

i've never spent much time in memphis, but i've lived on the southside of atlanta for almost 20 years and never felt the need.

frankly, i don't care that much about folks conceal carrying if they feel the need, although i wish the requirements for a permit were stricter.

it's the open carry folks that rub me the wrong way.

I lived in a low end district of Chicago...never felt like I was better off carrying...

I once came home from a bar after a night of drinking. My car was parked on the street (I had taken the el) and when I walked up, the local gang was breaking in my car. I knew them all from living in the same neighborhood, and we all drank together in the local bar.

They pretended that they didn't realize it was my car, and locked it back up with an apology. Of course, it was cleaned out the next night. Maybe we should have had a shootout it would have been better but I don't think so.

I think that most people will go their entire lives without ever having to consider using a gun. Even among police officers, who place themselves in dangerous positions for a living, most never have to discharge their weapons over the course of their career. But I understand and respect the desire to carry. It is a part of the individualism that makes America great.

Yeah, I don't think carrying while drinking or shooting people for breaking into your car are good examples of reasons to carry.

With that mindset. I'm also thankful you don't feel the need to carry. :)

I was in my early twenties at the time. My live in girlfriend and I would hang out in the corner bar the way they do up there, we got on semi-friendly terms with the local street gang that hung out there too, they were Puerto Rican. My girlfriend was careless with keys, any time she was locked out of the apartment she would go around the corner to get one of the gang to break in...they knew how to get into nearly every apartment for a three or four block area.
When they cleaned out my car that next night after I walked up in them getting into it...all they got was an old 8-track player and some tapes, so it wasn’t a shooting matter.

Probably still laughing at you. If they're still alive...

If only I had a gun, I could have put a stop to their laughing for good.

Frankly, there were three of them breaking in my car when I walked up. I was raising hell at them...what are y’all doing breaking in my car? There was a moment when they considered beating me up, but backed down. I expected them to finish breaking in the car soon, and they did the following night.

Did they at least buy you a drink after that? :)

We acted like nothing had happened for a while but finally one night after everybody had had a few I kidded them about not getting anything worth a damn.

Edit: it’s strange the things that stick in the mind...I can still remember that gangs name...Bryn Mawr Jagoffs.
