Corey Grant?

He will be the "mismatch guy" . Out of the backfield, in motion, swing passes, anything to get him in space with someone who has no business trying to cover him.

Cory and all of our potential receivers may see some success this year, because I look for everyone to begin the year by 'Stacking the box' to stop the run. Whoever wins the QB slot will likely see 9 in the box and lite coverage on potential receivers.
The opposing teams reasoning will be to contain Richardson and company and try to put the game on an inexperienced QB.
They will all breath a sigh of relief that Julio has gone Pro, so until someone steps up and becomes the go to guy coverage will be minimal... Now if AJ or Sims can exploit their reasoning...

I have a feeling he may be getting a redshirt. I understand he is very talented and very fast but we seem to have plenty of backs that can do an outstanding job this year. I would be surprised to see him play, but then again I am not a coach.

He was redshirted last year.

I think Corey will have a role similar too that of Blake Sims..A change of pace kinda plays..When Corey comes in at RB..We'll have plays that will exploit D's with his speed & his ability to stretch a D by catching the ball in the slot..He'll bring different wrinkles to our offense for D's to worry about..

I really hope he gets a long look at returning punts and kicks in addition to plays on offense. His open field speed, quickness and the ability to make great cutback moves is what was missing last year with Arenas gone. He looks like Javy physically except he has more top end speed. I really hope he gets a shot at playing because he could be a real difference maker. Dee Hart has been getting a lot of publicity, for good reason, but Grant is a very good player himself.

I really hope we do utilize him this year. He showed flashes of brilliance in the A Day game. The good thing is that Coach Saban isn't afraid to use a committee of running backs. I could see Corey potentially playing the Upchurch role. His size and running style actually remind me a bit of Upchurch...

My hope as well. It's hard to utilize everyone, but special teams could use a boost of speed. I know this has been discussed, but I really don't like using Trent on special teams. It's not that he doesn't have the ability. I just prefer to see him lining up at RB exclusively. I really hope Grant gets a lot of opportunities.

Agreed. As talented as Trent is, I don't want to risk him getting injured on KO returns. We have the players available to do it. Bradley Sylve could also make an impact at this position once he gets on campus.

I think we will see Dee Hart in this role if the spring game was any indication. I'm with some of the others that we want see much of Corey this year except for maybe on special teams.

Him playing this year will hinge on his abilty to protect the QB in a pass rushing situation. He has plenty of talent with the football in his hands. Also ahead of him there's a long list of talent. Grant's only a redshirt freshman. I see him being a contributor on special teams and mop up this year with an increased role in 2012 then during his junior and senior years he'll be an big contibutor to the backfield IMO.

I think he would really boost our special teams. Speed and versatility was really missing last year with Arenas gone. Grant, Hart and possibly Sylve will give us MUCH more speed and versatility.

Well, Corey will see field as a utility player and if he shines, he will play more. COACH SABAN has always said; THE best players will play. COTTONTOP1, OUT.

It would be interesting to see Blake in the pistol formation with either Dee or Corey as the back. Talk about speed and elusiveness in the backfield!!!!!
