Cotton Bowl Predictions

If you saw the Baylor game then you know, Hodges missed just about every receiver he threw to. it wasn't baylor, it was the QB. He finally got his act together in the 4th quarter, and it was history. It's a little misleading to judge TECH's offense on 1 bad game or 3 quarters of poor offense.

Tech's defense ranks 1 spot ahead of ole miss, a team that held bama to 10 points. since the 2 are comparable, then tech should hold bama to 10, right??. TEch is still the #2 offense the nation, bama opponents offensive rank are as such:

104, 78, 104, 66, 62, 111, 89, 97, 113, 64, 27...

that's 7 terrible offenses, 3 average, 1 good...one could surmise that the bama defense is more a product of poor offense than, great defense...

Just one note to what you said...the SEC is more defense oriented as a whole....which makes offenses not look so good.

Um... I thought I was being complimentary to Tech, saying they didn't get flustered when they couldn't score a touchdown on Baylor in 3 quarters, and eventually found a way to score 22 points in the fourth... I wasn't knocking them. I thought it was impressive that they looked better late in the game.

But since you bring up stats, I don't think it's hard to rack up points when you play two division 1AA teams (Sam Houston State and Indiana State... or is it 3 with Florida International... They were listed right under the 117 teams in 1A, so I'm not sure where they fit in), a Baylor team that is slowly but surely rebuilding (...and I think Baylor had something to do with Tech's inability to score a touchdown in 3 quarters), and a couple of pretty awful teams like Texas A&M and Oklahoma State.

Now I'm knocking them, but only because you started it! ;)

both of these teams have holes, so expect it to be close. i will congratulate bama on a big win, if it turns out to be so..

Yes we got beat down against UT. But I don't think our O was shut down. Here's the offensive stats for that game:

..................................................TT UT
FIRST DOWNS...............................29 21
RUSHES-YARDS (NET)...................29-99 40-205
PASSING YDS (NET).......................369 239
Passes Att-Comp-Int...................64-42-1 22-12-2
TOTAL OFFENSE PLAYS-YARDS........93-468 62-444

Our O moved the ball against UT. We had two costly turnovers as we entered or approached the red zone. We did a very POOR job of finishing.

Remember that this was against a coaching staff and team that plays us every year. Not so with Bama. I think we'll move the ball against Bama . . . we have to FINISH our drives instead turning over the ball.

This was the most embarrassing thread ive ever read in my life. Everyone thinks pretty much T Tech will blow us out. There not better than Auburn and LSU. They cant run the ball and those short dinky passes wont work. Defense is suspect. Bama by at least a touchdown if the passing game steps up!!!! Roll Tide and where is the FAITH has it died just because of two losses.

It does seem that alot of Bama fans are throwing in the towel. I for one am not. Bama has a month of practice to get ready and the OL will be fine. As a matter of fact, I feel sorry for TT and their QB. It's gonna be difficult throwing either of his back foot or during the act of getting pummeled.

yes I predict Bama to win!

42-10

i'll put it this way... you'll know within the first 5 minutes of the game who's going to win this one.

if TT's O-Line blocks Bama's pass rush pretty well, TT will win. if Bama is all over their QB, Bama wins. Auburn and LSU beat us passing the ball. and arguably TT's passing game is light years better than either one of those teams so...

on the other side of the ball, i think TT's defense is on par with maybe a middle to lower tier SEC team. so if they have a great game, they will be able to hold the unbelievably stale Bama O to less than 20 points. i.e. ole miss... if their defense has a crappy game, Bama will score 30+ points on them.

Bama uses the run to set up the pass, control the clock, and keep the TT offense on the sideline. I know that's a shocker...but that's the way I see it.

24-21, Bama.

I expect that Kines will hold TT to between 10 and 17 points. But unless some miracle has happened in the interior of the OL, I expect Brodie will be pounded as badly as he was in his last game, and that the offense will be totally inept as a result. I predict TT wins 17-3.

I expect our offensive line to be as pitiful as it has been but here's our saving grace. Coach Shula called me the other night and asked would I mind him calling me out of the stands in the second half and go in for Brodie if we're behind.

I told him I might still have enough left in my tank to pull us out of a bind if need be. CMS said if he has to call me in that we'd be using the RB's strictly for decoration, that any rushing attempts would be designed qb runs since my athletic talent exceeds the average five star D-1 college athlete. There's no need for other's "to get in the way."

As for the passing game. Our usual character of WR's will be on the field but will be holding pom poms and cheering me on as I "prime time it" down the sidelines to bring us back to victory. Coach Shula said that when he puts me in he's just going to take the headset off and go to the concession stand for a hotdog and nachos and probably go to the local mall for some after Xmas sales but would be back for the locker room victory speech.

So Bama fans, don't worry about January 2 and the Cotton Bowl. All necessary arrangements have been made to assure our victory. We're in good hands.
