Question: Could Alabama's defense stop Oregon's offense if they played "right now"?

Yes but we would give up a few plays. It's inevitable when playing a no huddle team with the talent Oregon has.

Bama's best defense against Oregon would be their offense. They cant score if they arent on the field.

After watching the replay against Ole Miss, I'm not so sure. But if we play OU, we'll have several weeks to prepare, and you know what happens when CNS has several weeks to prepare.

T.O.P would be the key element in this game. Afrer watching several of Oregon's games it doesn't look like their D can stop our Offense. I think we would just slowly move up the field with the ground game and short passing game. I believe they would score against us( almost impossible to totally shut them down) but by the end of the 3rd qtr we would really begin to wear there D down which would allow us to go on 5 and 6 + minute drives. We would get enough stops on D to keep the score faily low(for them). I would guess the score to be around 35-24 in our favor.

Short answer: Yes. But everything's relative. I think we'd give up 14-21 pts, as much or slightly more than we gave up to Michigan and Ole Miss.
The real question is "Could Oregon's defense stop Alabama's offense?"

Auburn had one of their best defensive efforts of the year in 2010 against Oregon in the BCSNCG, and that was a porous defense. I just go back to what we see almost every year - a seemingly unstoppable OOC offense gets shut down by SEC defenses. LSU - OU 2003, Bama - Texas Tech 2005, UF - tOSU 2006, LSU - tOSU 2007, UF - OU 2008, Bama - Texas 2009, AU - Oregon 2010. These were all very prolific offenses that got made to look silly against the SEC. 3 Heisman winners had some of the worst games of their careers in that stretch.

That's what I was thinking as well..We wouldn't shut them out..But..We would win by a comfortable margin though..

Sorry, couldn't resist.
Seriously, I think we'd be able to handle them. Our ball control style would get them out of synch having to stand on the sidelines longer than they are use to and given a month to play in the BCS, Saban would find a way to stop them.
If we had played at 10:23 last night, Oregon would have had ther advantage as it would have been 8:23 for them and our guys would have been tireder. Did you see how badly we played starting at 8:15?

But yes, I think we would win. We would give up some big plays, but eat up the clock with our offense and they couldn't stop us. I think we would see a lot of hands on hips from their players near the end of the game.

Yeah, I think it would be along the lines of a 42-28 game. They are very explosive, and I do not think we would "stop" them persay, but we would contain them enough to be able to win the game.

I think we score more than them but the thing that scares me is how explosive they are on special teams. (Punt and Kick returns). IMO, that would be the key to the game.

When your team plays with intensity, you are as fast as any team in America. Don't let the Ole Miss game deceive you - you are much faster than Ole Miss. They looked faster because they played with a much higher intensity and sense of urgency.
You only lose to Oregon if you play the way you did against Ole Miss, and I doubt that would happen since Oregon is so highly rated.
