I believe most of Bama's offensive shortcomings can be corrected by doing the following and I believe we will see this in weeks to come:

1. Playmakers need to get the football more. Ray Hudson should be getting 20-30 carries pgm. Additionally, throw it to him another 5-10 times out of the back field (they are safe throws and it gets him the ball out on the perimeter where he is most dangerous). Hudson is a downhill runner who is a threat to score everytime he touches the ball! Throw the ball to Castile. He will catch it and he is a load to stop once he gets going. Hudson and Castile are the best players on offense and they can carry the team offensively if they are creative about getting them the ball!!

2. Use screens to get the ball into WR's hands. They are already doing this but I think we will see more of it based on the fact that they are normally high percentage, safe throws which is what the offense needs more of.

3. Throw that deep ball more. I know you all are thinking QB's can't throw but they can, they have to stay away from the trouble spot which is mainly the center of the field (where defenses change and disguise coverages). Stay away from the middle, work the flats and deep sideline routes. Gullion has done a pretty decent job with the deep ball and we will connect on a few real soon. It keeps the defense honest, it increases the chances of a big play and its fairly simple to read. Get single coverage, let it fly. Best of all, if you do make a mistake and throw the pick, its 40-50 yards downfield not at your own 18! Bama needs balance and I think you get it by throwing safer passes, by hitting some big ones, and by not putting the QB's in 3rd and long.

Just my .02 worth. whatever happens I will continue to pull for them come what may, and I just know that Bama and CMS are due for a few lucky breaks, and are going to get things turned around. They were well on there way before Brodie got hurt and they will be again. The past few weeks were just a bump in the road. RTR!!!!

I love your suggestions...

One thing to condition the passing game with:

DO NOT THROW INTO DOUBLE OR MORE COVERAGE.

Seems simple, but after watching the second half Sat. night, apparently it is not. No throwing into double coverage or more. No throwing into 4 man zones or more. You must throw under the zone, or over the zone. If the opponent wants to extend the zone deep, then we must run the ball or do screen passes.

There you have it. Simple answer, simple application. Now do it boys!! Beat the Cats!!!

Great suggestions

I agree 100 percent but another thing I would do is never bring Spencer Pennington back in the game. Im sorry but this kid is not ready to play in my opinion. He threw some terrible passes in the game and never looked confident. Guillon in the other hand just needs more experience but he is getting there, the team needs to help out by making receptions. He has good accuracy and touch but doesnt need to force it and make better reads I still think we get 7 wins so Roll Tide Roll

Can't disagree with the assessment at all SimCast3!

I too have wondered where the wr screen is...we've used it once or twice and it's gotten us 5 to 10 and is great for setting up the pump fake and deep pass to the other side of the field.

Look, Guillon will be okay, but frankly he has been getting rattled by his own mind. He'll make one bad pass and get picked and he's dead for the rest of the game.

I'll bet we stick with him for the remainder of the season from now on. Spencer just doesn't seem to have it at all. He looked really bad and while I like Spencer he just doesn't seem to have the zip on the ball that he had prior to his injury.

Ok...

Let's stop running the same sets of plays for Darby (inside tackles) Hudson (outside left) and Jumbo (left guard, McClain leading). Prothro lined up left - running play to that side. Prothro right - pass play. That might confuse the defenses, since we've been so predictable. Also, since we're practicing the quick trap with McClain, why not actually run it in the game. It actually takes advantage of CBC's blocking schemes. Add to that the walking the linebacker up. That's something else we've been practicing and not using...

No problem with that from me. I obviously don't see the practices I just see a dominant running back that only touches the football 14-16 times a game and I wonder why.IMHO Hudson should rush the ball 30 times and catch it 5-7 times out of the backfield. I think he is a home run hitter and they should feed it to him as much as possible.

I agree. Mainly get some questions in the opposing teams mind, and work those short passes.

I beleive that Bama trouble is not playing with heart.I also think that they try to play to consevtive they play like they are scared to do something great everyone is going to make mistakes I was not expecting Tide to win National Championship this year.I think the only person stoping Bama now is Bama I love the tide I want to get better but that is going to take more than just us believing it is going to take every single Bama player and fan to believe.

Our Qb's have been our achilles heel thus far this season. With our starter out they have got to learn to take what the defense gives you. If its not their its just not their. Just don't try to make too many things happen.

There are so many little "tweaks" we could make to cure the offensive woes we witnessed in the last 2 games. As my old HS coach used to say, "This is football. It ain't rocket surgery."

The question is...will we make those changes?

BAMA's running game is more finesse oriented than power. i think that has a lot to do with the losses. This O-line is plenty capable of smashing people in the face, but there is little creativity with regard to running play calls inside or out. the draw doesn't work so well when your QB is not effective passing the ball. SO STOP RUNNING THE DRAW ON EVERY 3rd RUNNING PLAY!!!

Right now, we have a starting QB that has a confidence problem and a backup that is better off not attempting another forward pass. What we NEED is this Coaching Staff to utilize our strentghs. We CAN run the ball. Let Hudson/Darby/Castille and the O-Line pull this cart. At this point, I don't care if every team left on our schedule plays the run against us. This would play into an advantage, if and only if, Marc is preached to over and over about not making bad decisions and not LOSING the game for us. Short outs and Screens until Marc gets a better comfort level. Coach Shula should know this. Nothing over the middle, except for every now and then, a deep ball to keep the Secondary honest with a WR man on man. Nothing into Double Coverage or in the Zone. Bama should only be attempting 15 pass with MG under center, 20 tops. And CUT OUT THE PENALTIES. How many drives have been killed the last 2 games because of stupid penalties forcing us into obvious long yardage situation passes.

It's pretty easy to fix on paper and in practice what is wrong with Bama's offense but another thing all together when you have 80,000 screaming at you. Regroup and RTR.
